UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 5 - The Canonn

I'm with you all up until the UA connection. I think your UA theory makes sense only if you ignore the intelligent behavior exhibited by them. Add in the ship scanning, stellar object-identifying, and morse-blaring aspects of the UA, and they seem far too advanced to be simply space-sperm.

Don't dolphins seem to be far too intelligent to be simple mammals, aswell?
Their means of navigation might have evolved due to the environment their parents grow up in.
Vision won't be useful in dust clouds, sonar will be;)

Why would a UA "draw" a ship in morse-code it has scanned,
why does the computer say we are being scanned?

Because the wave-length they use for scans is identical or similar to ship sensors,
and the image drawn is the way they "see" our ships and communicate with each other.
Does that sound logical?

Morse code is a very easily intelligible code,
with the low pitched humms it has a long distance it can possibly travel.
I learned in my study to become a telecommunications technician, that
a lower frequency is beneficial on transmission, travelling longer ranges.

My post seems to have vanished, I probably did something wrong or alike. If so, I'm sorry. In any case, let me reformulate then. The ballgame remark of MB is probably related to a popular basketball game being played this thursday in London. Perhaps the seatingplan of this event might shed some light on his remark, or has the statement about the ballgame from MB been totally disconnected from the barnacle search, in which case, excuse moi. :)

'ello everyone. I'm back to fly!

I see MB has added a few clarifications since I was last here. So there are definitely 'some' in the Pleides and they are at fixed locations. Along with his comments that functionally amounted to ''oh you'll know when you've found one'' I am totally stoked to get out there and look.

Tonight's main course is Maia B and it's surrounding bodies. Let's get out there! :D

Has anybody seen such a pattern before? Not sure if it's a graphical artefact, although this would be my first with 1000+ hours of playtime.
If you land on it, it's quite greenish. Oh, btw: Pleiades Sector GW-W C1-15, Planet #5, 1.02 G.
Would be grateful if anybody could confirm.

Yes, I can confiirm..

After following the line it crossed with another line.

Well, these structures in the distance look quite interesting. Hmm..

But it might be also a Stellar Forge bug because the lines disappeared sometimes if you change your viewing angle.

Guys,
What if the planets with barnicles, that we can LAND on, also have a notice about life in the system map like Earth-likes, water worlds, gas giants, etc.
It could be something like: "Rocky world with life".

I think it's worth a look.

I Dont disagree - but this bit from the definition of a Cyprid intrugues me enough to think .. maybe the UA is a Cyprid

Cyprid (last larval stage of barnacle before adulthood)
"...its role is to find a suitable place to settle, since the adults are sessile.[7] The cyprid stage lasts from days to weeks. It explores potential surfaces with modified antennules; once it has found a potentially suitable spot, it attaches head-first using its antennules, and a secreted glycoproteinous substance....."

I keep reading theories regarding the barnacles as being alive and needing certain conditions/food to survive, when there is no proof for this being the case. In my opinion they are crashed or abandoned alien ships and may contain Meta alloys. I'm only basing this on the barnacle-like shape of the Thargoid ships in the original game.

I'm open to all ideas but I think we may be over thinking it slightly.

Wow, a day or two away and 130 odd pages!
Expected to see more comanders when i got back in game earlier, are you guys in open, or using a group like Mobius etc?
Anyway, i've had my Government advised 3 days on the wagon, so I'll be joining you in game with a single malt or two later.
Keep going CMDRs, only a matter of time.... although that is relative!

Back to the grind.

I think we are all on the forum trying to catch up with this neverending thread

I simply skipped all the reading and found out the quintessence:
Everybody still is searching, nobody found something.

Things are quite simple:
The one theory that is right will be remembered,
everything else will be degraded from dusty theorhetical memories
to the rambling of madmen.

The amount of players checking those is relatively low,
as (i think) is the spawnrate of S.S.S.es far away from civilized space.

Good luck CMDR!
Remember to have some Captain Morgan as thought accelerator, if that theory is correct;)

I seem to recall that there are other nebula close enough to the human bubble where SSSs can be found.

Regular balls-sperm seem pretty intelligent. They're can fight each other, form barriers and find the egg.

It would be awesome if Frontier decided to put reproduction mechanics into place for the large barnacles, and in reality they only seeded 1 barnacle on a few random planets. A day later there are 2, the next day 4, the next 8.... it would be crazy to be able to witness a Forrest spring to life on a planet.

Just a FYI, got ganked by a CMDR in a Clipper.

Pleaides Sector DL-Y D65, inside the Nebula.

Guy's obviously come to gank folk, I think solo.

CMDR B*****, might want to avoid if you spot a 6 char CMDR rated Deadly starting in B.

The more time they spend on hunting you down, the less likely is their success in finding anything of worth.
That kind of behaviour usually is reduced by jump range and fuel reservoir.
But on the other side greed and envy do define humanity.
