I went to go look at the Barnacle at lunch while in the Mobius group. I was about 20km up when I came out of SC near to the coordinates and I could actually see something from up that high... turns out that I could see someone's Anaconda parked near to the Barnacles but the Barnacles themselves didn't pop in until I was fairly close... haha

For me this seems to be Binary Planet Lat: 27.?3 Lon: 9?.?? for now

Pleiadies Sector TJ-Q B5-2 has a 2 binary planets around the first star (A2 & 3), just under 23ly from Maia. I'm there now, but I actually have to head out shortly so if anyone wants to take a punt...

LOL the funny thing is you may have looked at the game files but did you look at the materials that drop from the spikes of the Barnacle??? Those are the seeds man, they aren't a specific item they are just the skin for the materials that drop. Quite obviously seed like and most probably not anything to do with planting new Barnacles.
This is why looking at the files is stupid, you get no context and end up making inaccurate guesses based on what you've seen.
So if you feel a bit frustrated because what's happening didn't fit your thinking at the time... it's not worth getting in trouble. You might not yet have considered the following:
- MB thinks the first barnacles found were lower odds to find than the one he might have expected
- quite likely in MMO terms when one is found, iterations of that find may become more accessible suddenly so more players can be involved
- other findings in separate areas still local to Plaides nebula are a certainty given our recent hints. I think Riz knows this well
- given that MB expected a more easy find, other findings may be even more important than this one
No-one's been wasting their time and there's probably more to find and also to influence.
We can see the story moving already, any person can still be part of that and there is much to still be uncovered.
Stay frosty, and positive CMDRs

It's the most metallic of the rocky planets in Merope.
It is also in the Goldilocks Zone for life based on similar biology to what we're used to.
No-one else has said it or even hinted at saying it.
Galnet post comes out with coordinates to a barnacle.
Suddenly barnacles are found.
I call shennanigans. I bet a virtual switch got flicked "on" and enabled the appearance of barnacles.

So perhaps we can narrow the search down to planets with something like 14% metal, ~297K and 0.18G ?
90% sure that post came out right after Barnacles were confirmed to have been found, it triggered as a result of the finding.
Indeed sir. The FIRST ONE FOUND was in Merope
I still think people are misinterpreting what I said and what Michael agreed with. The chance to find these on the surface of Merope 5C is no higher than the chance to find them on any other landable planet in the Pleiades with the same conditions. Now that we know what they look like and how to search for them, the findings will increase rapidly. And we will eventually find the hand placed ones in some cool locations.
The more planets, systems, and nebulae we find with Barnacles, the clearer the picture will become. And it will become more clear that the UAs are not pointing at Merope because of the Barnacles. There is another reason, and barnacles are part of that puzzle. A puzzle which might take months and years to realize.
Yeah, your theory probably still beats mine in terms of UAs pointing at Merope because barnacles are there. Only time and data will tell.
