Regarding the Galnet post, I have a theory:

"strength of signal indicates it originated from a star system approximately 23 light years from Maia. Unfortunately, interference from a local black hole has made it impossible to determine a vector for the transmission"

Notice it mentions the local black hole, which is quite a long way from Obsidian Orbital. If the signal get interference from the black hole, then perhaps it passed close to it. For each of the ~23ly systems, target them from OO and see which ones would have passed near the black hole in Maia.

How do we know the Galnet article was refering to THIS barnacle just found, it could be another. It states a signal from a star 23ly from maia, i thought merope was only around 4-5ly from maia.

Barnacle spawned normal to me in SOLO.

I spent some time at the barnacle in Mobius earlier. It might be a normal flight mechanic, but when I left the site I was scanned (assume by the barnacle) and then shortly after my ship engines all switched off and i'm frozen looking down on the site. Then I hear it singing to me, similar noises to the UA. I haven't done much planet based stuff so is this normal or is it the barnacle? I was carrying a meta alloy but no UA. It happened several times and I could restart my engines after a pause.

Crashed ship on Pleiades Sector JC-U B3-2 1.
Coordinates are 20.8811, 91.7004 right above the Anaconda. There's a couple of dudes scouting the joint right now.

Those are the seeds man, they aren't a specific item they are just the skin for the materials that drop. Quite obviously seed like and most probably not anything to do with planting new Barnacles.

This is why looking at the files is stupid, you get no context and end up making inaccurate guesses based on what you've seen.

What was guessed? What was inaccurate? The only things that was established was that they drop something with the model of a seed looking item, and it just so turns out that they are meta alloys. Don't know what was inaccurate in that statement.

Guys my I ask how do u find them. Do u fly and see them from the air or do you drive around and listen to the sounds?
Im at merope 5c at the moment, still no sign of any alien artifacts :'(
