After all they're also in planets with silicate geysers. Maybe they're not carbon based but silicon (or silicon dioxide) based and maybe that's why they eat electronic equipment for dinner and why they make tetrahedral structures
Mmm. I thought the only UAs recently found were all pointing to Merope; if they were purring in cycles of 5 & 3 then I see the possible connection- it's a hypothesis on a possible clue that we missed & that hypothesis can be checked should we ever find UAs in a shell pointing to any other system.
What puzzles me is the requirements for the barnacle location- only thing I see in common with any of the so-called clues to date is that it is on light sandy soil. No sign of mist, low G, daylight, ... what do these things need that will help us find them in future? If they are to be a factor in the storyline development then it must be possible to get many more.

Um... Guys? One of my friends who is playing PC right now just texted me that there was some kind of Fed/Empire (player) Skirmish in Merope. So uh, heads up. You might have company coming to try and take the Barnacles by force...
On the "stopping randomly in mid air" bit, I've had this happen to me inside of the bubble while not participating in any UA or MA activities. I've had it happen with friends as well. I believe it to be a bug but it hasn't happened often enough for me to make a bug report about it.

Panic over, some very weird networking issues going on, I presume the server could not send my client static POI information or soemthing.
The question was asked, so I'll repeat: We have audio of the UA with the barnacle. We were sure to do it in a way to get them in stereo (UA on one side, barnacle on the other). It will be linked from YouTube a little later today.

Barnacle passed several live fire tests already.
Was asked to record and post audio of a UA here while visiting the barnacle on Merope 5C. Cmdr Niccosuave provided the UA, and Cmdrs Britain and Oakwood observed. Britain also said the UA was morse-ing the name of the moon, so it doesn't seem to be saying anything new. I put all of this in the description of the video, just wanted to make sure they got credit so I put it here too. Will be a bit longer before higher quality options show up on the video.
