Galnet logo. We know that Mainstream Media are in league with aliens to dominate us all!
The meta-alloys looks like seed to me...and we are willingly transporting them in our stations. Nothing good will come out of this.

Found a second site a few hundred meters from the first...
PLEIADES SECTOR JC-U B3-2 2
Co-ords: 49.7519 x 102.1610
Edit - just been informed of a 3rd site nearby... co-ords 49.5347 x 102.0792.
So that is 3 barnacle sites within a few hundred meters.
Site 1 = 49.9075 x 102.7141
Site 2 = 49.7519 x 102.1610
Site 3 = 49.5347 x 102.0792

That's what Im trying to confirm, sadly Im stuck at work for a few more hours and cant check planetary information via in-game. Trying to get a headstart of planets I should look into in other Nebulae that match the information of discovered sites.
That, and stupidity. Fun story:
Over half a century ago, it was theorised that chemicals could be used for 'local' climate engineering to improve food production in SE Asia. It didn't happen, but industrialisation more then made up for it. Now we have too much crap in the air because we didn't really knew what we were doing at the time. The primary solution to our current problem being researched? "Geo-engineering", a cool word for putting new stuff in the air to counter the other stuff we put there. We could ofcourse stop transporting beef from Argentina to Italy just to sell it as Prosciutto di Parma to the Chinese with a hefty mark-up, but that sounds too complicated and who even knows that will work.
Today has been a great summary of the human spirit.

Well the thought could be:
More primitive species might use symbols of what they can see (Constellations)
More advanced species might use symbols to identify where they've come from.
As someone else has mentioned, this symbol could even be a combination of Nebulae, sort of like the Thargoid UN (United Nebulae, muahaha)
Hell it could be as simple as a tribal symbol. It could mean very little, as I understand the fact the UA's scanned ships and showed us 2d images of ourselves via code, it didnt really amount to anything (yet?). This could be the same thing, a neat discovery that wont amount to anything for a wee bit.
We have two barnacle regions. One was found by luck, the other was hinted on GalNet.
Did you see my earlier similar post? This is either a thing or a bug but I think it's a thing! ;-)
