It's BLATANTLY been tweaked.

Perhaps, but they are very hard to spot. I think it's clear they seeded some barnacles and crash sites in Pleiades Sector JC-U b3-2 and set up a Galnet post with a pretty straight forward clue. I'm not so sure about Merope. That one may be coincidence or they may have added some barnacles there too (Michael previously suggested that Merope wasn't special which implied that there were no permanent barnacles there).

I don't think recent server downtime has anything to do with this. Since 1.5/2.0 FD have been able to inject POIs without doing a release. Michael said he'd verified that they could be found in game days ago, and that's good enough for me.

On what basis? Couldn't it be making the situation worse?

On the basis that FD posted a story about the worsening conditions at Obsidian Orbital and a story providing a pretty easy hint in find meta-alloys within a matter of minutes of each other.

I still think that:

UA collects info (ship scans and such), send the info to the Pleiades. Barnacles in the Pleiades receive the data and send it to aliens (thargoids).

I'll raise a request next time Im in game-probably tomorrow by the time I've finished catching up with this thread plus RL commitments. Is there a specific teamspeak channel to use when in the group? I seem to remember there are several "chat rooms" in the Canonn teamspeak but I must admit I havent tried it yet (hangs head in shame)-tend to play in solo.

it was strange, after I visited the barnacle on 5C and came back to obsidian orbital with some meta alloy, I looked at the bulletin board and suddenly it was nothing but charity missions, literally like a dozen charity missions and nothing else

If you want OO to stay open, you take those missions.

They had demand for them - where are you selling at?

I no longer believe it's an alien invasion (in the traditional sense). Hear me out!

My theory of the barnacle origin based on the currently known facts:

Barnacles are exeptionally common around the crashed Anaconda on Pleiades Sector bla bla (see Post 2). I think it is currently safe to assume, that this Anaconda may be the origin of the barnacles in the Pleiades. I believe this Anaconda was on a mission in a currently unknown region probably for exploration (or, if you like for a secret military conspiracy reason). It found something, maybe barnacles or maybe something else, which infected the ship and due to system failure caused the crash of that ship.

The barnacles spread on that planet and somehow they developed the unknown artifacts to spawn and spread around the nearby systems as well. The rest is history. (UAs gather information, UAs are found, "The Virus" affects ships systems and stations)


I believe we are not neccesarrily fighting an intentional invasion, but more a form of galactic desease. It's a lifeform that is unknown to humans in that scale and more spreading out of instinc than contiousness.

If it's the Anaconda the source of all UA's then why the UA's are poiting at Merope, not the Conda's system ? There's gotta be something more there. My bet is a larger construction, a UA breeder-factory of some kind. Could be not seeable as POI just as barnacles . It could be transported on Conda but got to Merope somehow. Don't get distracted
Ofc it all could be just logic fails of the plot and the programming. I mean if some systems were permit-only, FD was creating'n'testing something there, right? They bought themselves some time while we were searching on Merope, since the UA's pointing was the only real clue.
They built the HYPE, finished work on the plot continuation, then added the Conda with the GalNet news. Finding barnacle on Merope triggered this news and spawned the Conda. So, there's the question, did the UA point at Merope just to trigger the continuation, or is there still something big to be found?

If you mean the signal received by obsidian orbital... then yes. It's coming from crashed anaconda on PLEIADES SECTOR J-CU B3-2 20.8613 93.6317. There are several barnacle sites close to it...

Is that B3-2 1 or B3-2 2 (I'm at B3-2 1 and I cant find it).

They give no purple POI signal on the scanner if that's what you mean. They do show up on the SRV wave scanner.

Canonn Defense Initiative proposal

Hello Cmdrs.

I just want to make you aware of a proposal I've made in the Canonn thread:

It's related to the Obsidian Orbital blockage and other similar situations where Cmdrs exploring and doing science get outgunned and/or outnumbered by other players, whether for legitimate RP reasons or just plain griefing. So if you are interested in that and/or have been affected by griefing recently head over to the link and feel free to express your opinion.

I could have made the post here, but this thread is already big enough and I don't want to derail the discussion or create more unnecessary traffic. So, please, don't respond or comment on the proposal in this thread, but on the Canonn one instead.

I'm hoping doing something like this is not a breach of some forum etiquette I'm not aware of. If it is let me know and I'll do my best to correct it.

I've found barnacles one and three on PS JC-U B3-2 1, but I can't for the life of me find one of the crashed Anacondas.

Anyone found one in the last couple of hours and can confirm the coordinates? I'm aware of the instancing bugs with finding these fixed PoI's so am prepared to log in and out a few times (and have done).

I can confirm the second Anaconda coords as I finally got it to pop for me. It did not however have a barnacle amongst the wreckage like the screenshot. Also the Anaconda spawned a little low so it was mostly buried and it's strewn cargo was floating in mid-air. Wee bit buggy.
