The Science team operating the Canonn lab on Bond Hub in Varati have urgently request samples of the newly discovered commodity Meta alloys.
The team have been investigating the recent station malfunctions and hope that researching this new commodity may finally lead to a solution.
Meanwhile a second team of Canonn scientist dispatched a few weeks ago to help staff the labs on Palins base are still at Obsidian Orbital and have begun setting up a temporary research centre onboard.

I kitted my Asp out with 72 cargo space and am going to go farm the hell outta those Barnacles once I've finished this Strange Alloys mission (which has turned out to be VERY strange indeed) I will prioritize taking them to Bond Hub then I've never been to the Canonn homeland and have been planning to make a pilgrimage at some point anyway!

Anything special you have to do to get it to show up? I've been driving and flying around for 30 minutes and nothing.

On a side note anyone else get your ship 'landing' in the air or on a crazy tilt, but no 'SHIP SECURED' message (even with landing gear UP!)

I went back to the bubble to get my other ship and when I came back it was there, took me about 45minutes to do it, I remember because I was watching an episode of Farscape

B3-2 1, took some time for it to show up for me too.

... and we know the exact position; how could we found it randomly flying over any possible planet surface?
This approach to community shared story plot is not the best one IMHO.
Having more Galnet entry related to not random searches could be better (i.e. put a clue for navigating 10kLY away but with a well defined destination and all we will depart for the long trip).

Riz: You might want to reconsider the formatting of your coords for the discovered barnacles on first post. At the moment, you can't tell that:

and

I 'think' its makes angrier sounds if its damaged but could also be me expecting to hear that.

Some things I've noticed.
The blue flashies only appear around the central structure.
The Merope 5 C first barnacle drops Yttrium from one of its spikes. Do all barnacles clusters drop the same rare material or is it different per cluster/planet?

EDIT: Oh yeah, the spikes pop with an effect that look similar to the UA. IMO there are too many similarities for these to be unconnected to the UA.

The blue fireflies and mist also emanate from the meta-alloy pods on the spikes - clearly visible when it's dark.

As you can see there are very similar coordinates, so we can assume some of them spawn randomly all around the Anaconda wreckage.

So we found many bernacles yerstday, do we know if they are all fix or some are random? If Rizal agree we could pm him when we double check those coords so he can update the front page (meaby also cycling through open\private\solo) Amazing work Rizal btw. You are my new super hero. Sadly cant give more rep for the moment.
Also someone yesterday open a ticket for the istance bernacle bug, i cant find it again, but if someone have the link meaby can also go to the front page so all of us having issue can post there until FD fix the problem.

If they're the same everywhere it might be interesting to correlate them with our known syntheses to see if they are focused on a particular set of syntheses.

Fair point. IMHO, barnacle production methods should be studied more to find out in what kind of processes they use to produce meta-alloys. And, since there are good grounds to assume (see here) that UAs are some kind of seeds or travelling forms of barnacles, and are organic in nature, it would be vital to find way to reproduce barnacles in order to farm them for valuable meta-alloys to support the increasing demand for them.

By the way: According to the lore, how did humanity overcome the Thargoids last time? We used a virus. So for Thargoids it must have been clear at one point in their history: Curiousity killed the bug. And now they could have turned it around...

This is the most frustrating thing ever...
I'm doing the Strange Alloys mission, I assasinated the person I was supposed to and now they've severed contact with me and some guy is supposed to be trying to kill me I think I'm not sure, but all he's doing is flying at 30km/s in supercruise in such a way that I can NEVER get behind him to interdict him, and he isn't trying to interdict me, I can't tell if this is a bug or just really bad design but it's driving me insane I've been trying to interdict him for 10 minutes now....

Edit: ok I found out what was going on, he was trying to interdict me but had glitched and had no FSD interdictor. I waited until he was following me then pulled back on the throttle and interdicted.




Basically after being offered 6 million it looks like I'm getting NONE of that now ¬.¬ bit annoyed but we'll see where it goes from there.

Riz to update the Strange Alloys section in the first page I got this message after assassinating the target:

Then someone showed up shortly after who was listed as a mission target (an expert FDL), took him out and now nothing.
Hopefully something else will happen now because I WANT MY REWARD! (and want to see where this all leads, it seems very interesting)

Thanks for this I'd missed it.. Those meta alloy pods really do generate a lot. I wonder if this is an effect of meta alloys or something to do with the biological processes that makes the meta alloys.

Just trying to figure out the connection to UA. Is it a case that the UA's are made of meta alloys and thats the reason for the blue flashies or is it more a case that both the UA and barnacles share a common process that results in the blue flashies.
