By the way: According to the lore, how did humanity overcome the Thargoids last time? We used a virus. So for Thargoids it must have been clear at one point in their history: Curiousity killed the bug. And now they could have turned it around...
BEWARE! :)
Sorry, if mentioned before.

We bombed their bases with Mycoid.

Hmmm, close the 'loop'. Another slightly tenuous link to Barnards?

Nah.

I asked about 53 Arietis because it is a rogue star that was ejected from Bernard's Loop. If it was near the Nebula, or could have passed through the nebula, it might have carried the Barnacles from Bernard's Loop, which could indicate an origin of "Something"...

Also something worth mentioning, a common thread for every one of these barnacle sites is they reside on planets with no atmosphere (obviously). So they dont need air to breath. What about water? Is there water underground these sites of sand they seem to populate near?

So we found many bernacles yerstday, do we know if they are all fix or some are random? If Rizal agree we could pm him when we double check those coords so he can update the front page (meaby also cycling through open\private\solo) Amazing work Rizal btw. You are my new super hero. Sadly cant give more rep for the moment.
Also someone yesterday open a ticket for the istance bernacle bug, i cant find it again, but if someone have the link meaby can also go to the front page so all of us having issue can post there until FD fix the problem.

For what I've seen so far, the one in Merope 5C is fixed.

All the others in Pleiades Sector JC-U B3 are almost fixed, so that they spawn randomly in the area around the crashed Anaconda.
In fact someone even found one almost INTO the Anaconda ;)
But if you are already facing one, and relog, it's there again.

The one in PS JC-U B3 planet 1 coord. (23.0895),(94.0826) is also fixed.
I leave the game yesterday near it and I rejoin the game today with the barnacle still there.

"That, Mr Anderson, is the sound of inevitability."

Considering that cash is being offered for Metal Alloys...

Yes but the mission is a trap! I advise against trying to do the Strange Alloys mission, they lure you in with the offer of millions and then try to have you assasinated, whoever it is you're giving those Meta Alloys too has some bad intentions, I'd be willing to bet on that...

I've found 1, 3 and the second crashed Anaconda on PS JC-U B3-2 1...they're all fixed, but not always there. I don't believe this is intentional as the one on Merope 5C wasn't always there for me either, and MB said that if you are in the right spot you're guaranteed to find one.

I call shenanigans on the instancing of fixed PoIs to people far from the servers.

In Finland they have a proverb: "Ahneella on paskainen loppu", which basically translates into "greedy one will face an unhappy end" ;)

I should also mention finding one has no effect on whether the others are in your instance. I've done extensive testing on that. However once you find one and fly away, you can go back to it and it's still there.

The central portion of the Barnacle "feels" very much like a communications array to me. From the images posted it seems the central Barnacle is angled as if pointing at something, as a satellite dish/transmitter would be. I cannot visit any sites as I am 25KLy from any of this. If someone feels inclined could they check different sites and see if they are angled differently per site, and if so do their angles converge?

Those missions do look interesting if they are branching. Does anybody know what happens if you complete the original mission, and not follow the authorities' branch?
Also, sorry but I don't think you'll be getting that reward. After all, they just wanted to use your for the dirty work, then dispose of you too. Paying over twenty times the usual rate for assassinations? "If it looks like it's too good to be true, it probably is."

Beware if sighseeing near Anaconda: 20.8736 - 91.6983

I am being warned that the cutter hovering by it is killing people.

I've had Antimony from one. Unknown if they only drop the materials the planet has or random ones.

It would make sense if they dropped only what the planet has. I had a theory they were only dropping Yttrium because we need FSD extension to reach the next clue (yttrium is used for FSD extension) Antimony makes that another dead theory ;)
