thats not what he said he said we can generate more but since this galaxy is massive already I would say no so this means in the future we might get other galaxies as well because let's face it who doesn't wanna visit the andromeda ?!

Dude, punctuation....

" he said we can generate more but since this galaxy is massive already I would say no"

What I said is still pretty much what he said.

Grats!

Did you locate it by air or by SRV wave scanner?

Haha funny you should ask.. I went for a spotted depressed part of the planet (read canyon of different color) and started flying about.... well after a few minutes of boredom I sort of dozed off and when I woke up there it was...

True story..

Last night I fell asleep leaving a planet in HR1185 and when I logged back I nowhere near planets.... closest one was 0.18LY

EDIT: Hmm now that I think about it, it may be beneficial to sort of hover somewhere for a minute or too to give it a chance to spawn whatever.. before dozing off there was nothing and out of nowhere there it was. The network part can be a bit finicky here.

Why would their symbol be their home when viewed from a particular point in our galaxy?

Any interpretation of the markings as a celestial structure will be the structure as they see if from their home, as opposed to the structure being their home

Not necessarily. A generation ship heading to Barnard's loop could easily have adopted it as their symbol.

Thanks, that's my current strategy more or less. I'm just in orion.

If you want to learn about Thargoids:
http://www.dream-ware.co.uk/first-encounters/journals/all/

Search for 'THE THARGOIDS - TRUTH AND FICTION' (several articles).

Unfortunately, I know all about them as I was one of those who had to squint through a plastic red lens to play the game in 1984. Even though we may have heard of them, this galaxy seems to have never heard of them, or what went before. I think a new history may be being written. Not that it's a bad thing, if that's the way they want to go.

I like what Drew did with his write-up, but I didn't know about that site you just put up. Good reading for later!

Men in black don't exist BTW. Well, the guy in dark suit behind me said to say that. He just said I shouldn't have said that either :(

Right then there are 2 things that need to be taken care of ;
first are the trolls that ruin people's day , it's time we dealt with them with trolling as well . I suggest we memo I've the names and either get revenge on them or report them to frontier so they can teach them a lesson . So please someone do this . I'm not currently there to destroy these guys
second is a personal matter ; I finaly reached the neutron field and now I need to scan as many as possible to get my elite rank , right now I'm at pathfinder 75% . Can anyone with exploration experience tell me how much is the estimated neutrons I need to scan ?

@EAGLE 5 just to clarify what planet are you at is it Merope 5C?

Pleione 11A

Also just logged into private group and it disappeared, tried open again also gone. Will go through cycling in/out of game to see if it comes back. Be interesting if anyone else runs into it.

EDIT: I exited ED and got back in and it's back in open. Should be persistent location then. Someone else come see.

Random thought...

UA's could be from one alien species.
Barnacles could be from an entirely different species, and the two are at war. Barnacle race developed barnacles to fight the UA "weapon" of the UA race.

UAs and barnacles have got human fingerprints all over them - morse code and logos.

Id post this as a new thread on the main forum as were more focussed on barnacles and UA than getting your Elite explorer rank ;)

Some of my random opinions on the subject:

Ya while the Barnacle has a very similar shape to a thargon - its context indicates it is something else. This does not preclude the possibility that Thargoid technology is based on or related to some of the Barnacle/UA /meta-allloys...
.

Hypothetically, if a species was using organic tech to build ships, and if we assume that it does look a bit like a Thargon being "grown", then we have been merrily blowing up their shipyards.

That would also explain the fancy faction style decal, on the organic ship paintjob.

I think we may have done a bad thing.

If somebody came along, wrecked our shipyard machinery and stole the building materials, what would we do?

Oops!

About the fireflies buzzing about the UA... and barnacles

Not sure if this has been pointed but if you notice the Barnacle sites they also emit the "firefly effect" right? After staring at it for a while it does seem like the effect is focused around the Meta-Alloy pods once you collect those there really are few to no particles left buzzing about.... seeing now how the meta-alloy cured the UA induced breakages there is definitely a link between those two items. Perhaps UAs are built out of Meta-Alloys?

Unless they are combat logging then reporting to Frontier is utterly pointless. These players are doing nothing wrong from a game point of view, there actions although distasteful are perfectly legitimate.

The only way you/we are gonna deal with 'em is with ships.

For the neutrons...

~2625 assuming you get first discovery.

~3935 without first discovery.

Always good to get a few more than you need though, the above is calculated on average value, it's possible to come in below the average.

You can calculate it yourself from the data on this page if you can do the maths : http://elite-dangerous.wikia.com/wiki/Explorer

So combat logging is valid when a griefer does it?
I never said combat logging is a valid way to play the game. If someone combat logs, you should report them.

The post I quoted when I said 'it's a valid way to play the game" mentioned a player attacking explorers. People don't like it, but it's valid. You can either set up a player defense force, to protect the explorers, or move to private groups and solo mode.

I had thoughts along those lines, once you liberate a meta alloy pod though it stops producing blue flashies. I'm not saying they aren't connected but I think the blue flashies are the result of a biological process in the barnacle/UA rather than the meta alloys.
