Good work. IMO that is a much closer match than barnard's loop. Maybe the barnacles all have a "stamp" of the nebula they are in on them. So when/if we find some in a different nebula, it might have a different marking. Just a thought.

I agree although I think the nebula needs rotating clockwise a bit more to be an even better match.

@Venom:
Maybe you got another nebula in your back.
Maybe the sight from the nebula on the pleiades is what is drawn on the barnies.

So if there is a nebula behind you, go search there.

Hey guys, my first time posting here. I went in-game and took a look at the Pleiades Nebula from different angles, and this is what I got...

Doesn't look like it has to be Barnard's Loop.
Yes, glad that I'm not the only one seeing this. I mentioned that before, but don't know what to make out of this. Could be something like Made in Pleiades? dunno. It'sy current understanding from MBs posts that they are located elsewhere.

I'd like to think they popped into the Pleiades to install their ore extractors but are from somewhere else. Aka colonization / exploitation. Maybe a bit like fracking, why soil the soil in front of your home when you can go elsewhere ...
.
Still, what managed to get the Anaconda down? There was no black box, or?

I'm opening it fine, are you sure it's not your browser?
Same, no problems with the link here.

EDIT: here is the pic

And I absolutely believe that this "stamp" is the answer. If looked at from the correct angle, the Pleiades Nebula looks almost exactly like the symbol, otherwise not at all. So I'm convinced that the origin of the barnacles is in the direction of the correct angle! MB said it himself, that the nebulae which the barnacles are in are related to their origin. When I get back home later, my journey begins.

The problem I see with thinking there is a hidden message in the barnacle purrs is that there is no "start" marker, as there was with the UA's (scanning your ship, initial honk). So, if there is something in there, theoretically it should start to repeat itself at some point. That should be easy to do with a few lines of coding. Anyone got a relatively long purr sequence they can post?

I was curious about the barnacle glow when lasered rumor that's going around, and I wanted to take a look at it. I went to a barnacle and lasered the crap out of it, received the glow, took pictures. It seems the glow is universal, its happening to the whole screen and everything on it. I assume at this point the glow is caused just by being close to something as bright as the laser sparks for a while. I don't believe it has anything to do with the barnacle itself.

Small album is here. Switch between the pictures before the lasering and after and you can see that even the background hills get brighter.

Was reviewing the research summery on the first page , I wonder , is that logo a designation for the barnacle , like : mining sector version Pleiades for example , maybe the logos are a d signature that this barnacle is the one for pleiadese nebula

List update.

Right testing a theory that was up on here about UA shells and nebulal = Barnacles.

The test

Fly to Nebula when roughly 200lys from center start checking for shells of ua's (WSS, SSS, Wrekage, ect) then every jump towards center check each star arrived at, and then out the other side of center towards next nebular. checking consisted of standard UA pick up protocol in merope shell. wait 5mins near star fly away fly back until ua appears.

The point of this? To find out weather more barnacles can be located by looking for UA shells around nebula.

Nebular so far tested

Snake/ no shell /wreckage found
IC4804/ no shell /wreckage found
Pipe bowl/no shell
dumb bell/ no shell
sadr region / no shell

TESTED TONIGHT

pelican /no shell
north american /no shell
Heart / not checked
Soul / not checked
NGC 7822/ no shell /Many black hole

Orion/ not checked

Conclusion after 2 days (20 HOURS) chasing this. DEAD END

Heading back to merope.

Message ends.

Dear fellow CMDRs proving protection for explorers: If you see a combat equipped ship around a barnacle site and suspect that he is a ganker, please pay close attention to his actions. In my case, I was in a combat equipped Anaconda and had a few fellow CMDRs in ASPs around me exploring. I saw another anaconda appear incoming and it did not say a word. I took off, but I did not have weapons deployed and I did not fire first. Unfortunately the other CMDR was looking for an Anaconda who shot him down before and opened fire immediately on me without a word (not realizing it was not me). Turns out he was not a ganker, but because I was unfortunately caught off guard, I was the victim with a 25 mill rebuy. In a conda vs conda fight, he who fires first has an advantage. So the lesson to our dear CMDRs providing protection for those exploring the barnacle sites - be vigilant and on the defensive, but also don't jump to conclusions. I can absorb this rebuy, but saddened that it was due to friendly fire. I can certainly see why the Thargoids don't trust humans if we don't trust each other ;)

Too many people are asking for hints or proof that there is more to be found.

Yeah we just did that for 4 weeks and the damn things weren't even working. I don't mind impossible odds, just want to know that there is more to look for that's in game, not coming in a midnight server patch.

Barnacle list - position Merope 5 C 25.3417 158.4834 no barnacle around, i think its inacurate coordinate of 26.3515 156.4056

If the previous binary/morse decryption was correct, there is a <CT> morse prosign at the beginning of one of the barnacle transmissions - that is as clear a start signal you can hope to get.

Depending on how accurate that is, it looks so tantalisingly like a message:

TITI SENT
KRCN ETRM
AT42 TERT
EOEN XTEA
TRIT EORN
Y

I do notice a lot of T's, E's and R's in there tho, so it might be nothing at all. Letter frequency might indicate a further layer of encryption, and I'm thinking this isn't the whole message.
