Thanks for clarifying!

Dark matter is a possible solution to the question of why the outskirts of galaxies, including the Milky Way, rotate much more quickly than would be expected based on the gravitational pull of visible matter alone. The answer to that question IS out there. weather it's dark matter or invisible space octopuses playing with the spiral arms.

Hey Riz! Yes, I agree with you that that is most likely the reason for the article. I was more referring to whether the XRI existence came from FD or was an invention of the Cmdr who wrote the article, which then FD basically sanctioned. It's very much easier than that:
knowing the debate going on about the Barnacles, and what MB said a few posts ago about that there could be different paths depending on what player will do about it, the post fits perfectly: it expresses the doubts of some part of the community about the Barnacles/Meta-Alloys affair.

IMHO you are right: it's a crossroad.
the cmdr seems to be a regular poster on galnet submission thread, so probably nothing to do with them
Not quite the same "handwriting", if you get my meaning![]()
It isn't looking good and I am as guilty as everyone else.
If they are fruit, meant to be harvested, cutting them off with basically a laser scalpel would not have to be seen as hostile.
Not me guvnor, I haven't fired a shot![]()
Good call. Thanks Michael!Indeed - we've added prefixes to allow easier identification of the type of story.

Somebody must have tested Mining laser? I was at barnacle yesterday, but I didn't have one equipped. So I didn't shoot it and left it there unharmed.

Or .. limpets? since they are basically .. barnacles?
I don't know .. I let those eggheads do their science down under and as soon as the hostile alien force is confirmed, they will call in real commanders to deal with the situation anyway. "Han shot first" .. says who? Certainly not his unfortunately deceased business partner.
And Core Dynamics builds no "exploration ships". -_-

Done limpets as well, they either try to collect Material and smash into the ground (Die) or just sit next to my ship if I select nothing
And I'm guessing they're in some way associated with the people who are attacking the commanders delivering the Meta-Alloys. Their justification for it in the official news, rather than the seedy pit.
My thoughts are that there's a very good chance Palin could end up doing/causing something very stupid in the pursuit of science; as could we. But I don't think we should second guess it too much...
True, it might end up that we should have been more like when enigma was cracked during WWII and the intel gained abput attacks etc wasn't immediately acted upon, in the interests of a longer term goal, thus allowing thousands more people to die...
The analogy there being if we choose not to take Meta-Alloys, then more stations will continue to fall and potentially worse still, but for a smoother outcome in the future (I.e. aliens accusing us 'poaching' or worse).
But my angle is this: we have an unknown plague affecting our ability to protect humanity, possibly caused by alien/unknown artefacts, and another alien substance that appears ab;e to stop it.
We have to understand what the plague is, how to stop it etc, otherwise it's bad news either way.
We're acting out of a desire to protect - if that leads to diplomatic problems with another species in the future, and we can't make them (whoever they are) understand that, then it won't matter either way.
Protect the bubble now, and learn more about what we're facing before it's too late.
Yeah - you do them too much credit - no they're not. They don't have the same amount of imagination as Starcloak between them.
1. So probably the "other way" to progress is just to ignore the CG and not complete it.
2. Losing a couple of stations for a bigger good is still an option.
3. Also, there is still the possibility affected stations will re-power up without shipping Mets.

CG has 9.5k of metal alloys delivered after 1 day, tier 1 looks like it could be 100k? if so at this rate it will fail
tier 1 might be 50k? hard to tell
