Just an astrogation anomaly. Fd stuffed in as much real data as they could lay their hands on, even if it was a study of a tiny part of space. They will be 'real' while all around is procedurally generated.

Question: Has anyone figured out what these barnacles grow from?

The idea occured to me that its where a UA lands on a planet suitable for growth... so we plant a UA somewhere and wait.....

<<currently kicking about the Merope system looking for barnacles/UAs/Aliens and trouble ;)

Could be true. UA lands (or crashes) on a suitable planet, roots via the tube-like parts and starts producing MA and other materials. It's in correlation with its corrosive properties. Imagine you have some chunk of ore, how do you extract the metal in pure form from it? By dissolving it in acid - normal industrial procedure nowadays. And I think that UA works in the same way, dissolving our ships and space stations also :). The barnacle seed is next stage, and the question is - of what? ;)

Im certainly willing to help. Its also the only way to get involved at the moment.

I think im going to outfit my Conda for long distance jumping, and go to the California nebula. Do my part.

What am i looking for exactly? SSS in that area?

Witch Head Nebula might be a good place to look also

A couple of days ago someone reported strange blinking on Pleiades Sector JC-U B3-2 2.
Probably it is just a graphical glitch, but i made a video about it just for the record.

Well my next destination .... NGC 246 (also known as skull and crossbones nebula) But more important for me ... in the Cetus Constellation :)

and it is about as vaguely similar to the symbol as all the other ones out there

Not sure if its discussed or been poo pooed. The audio where you can hear "help us" repeated. If that is the case maybe the alien race has the same technological plague and found out like us meta alloys work to clear it. However they sent the UA to search for specific metal composition planets to build the barnacles and make the meta alloys. However they are struggling to get the alloys back to do the research. So I think if we carry on with the community goal of sending them to Maia then we will make an ally in them by helping solve the problem.

Have bin flying for 2 hours here now, nothing yet, i spotted a nearby system with 3 blackholes in it. (450LY, towards Barnards loop) Going to check it out. And go to the witchhead Nebula next.

Are you sure you just don't have a discovery scanner? A planet that's not on a System Map with an Outpost orbiting it seems very unlikely. Or maybe it's a bug.

Now you assume that barnacles think like humans. The fact that we don't enjoy being shot and harvested for materials doesn't necessarily mean alien life forms don't enjoy it either!:D

something like the cow at the Hitch Hiker's Guide Restaurant at the end of the Universe?

Copy that..

in that case i wont go in my Conda. Cant get close enough with the location of bridge.

Ill buy me a Asp Scout for this, finally a reason to own one.. lol

Someone did a YouTube of the alignment checking process, may have been RedWizzard or HanZen; my memory is bad.

Has anyone found free-floating UAs outside the "shell" around Merope? If not, searching for barnacles in other nebulae seem futile. Spotting SSS is much easier then planetside structures, so someone should have stumbled on them by now.

Maybe there is no direct connection of course, but that seems doubtful now.
