Patch Notes Update Elite Dangerous: Horizons patch 2.0.04

  • Don't replot the current route just because the Galaxy Map is opened. Fixes the route being forgotten sometimes if viewing the galaxy map during FSD charge, and helps to avoid forgetting the in-system target at the end of the route

Thanks for fixing this one, this really bugged me

I often think the Devs tasked with putting this information up on the forums have a lot in common with the guy at the zoo who's job it is to feed the lions....

He walks into the cage, chucks the meat at them and runs for his life...

They squabble and fight over the scraps and a lot of noise is made, growling and snapping.

The Dev stands behind the door sweating and muttering to himself "They don't pay me enough for this!"

LOL. Most likely :) And to top it off, the client is both too old and too new. I mean... how do you write a changelog for that?

That's a welcome insight into the internal workings, but it doesn't stop this patch from being a disappointment from a customer POV. Over a month since release and still no sign of fixes for the SRV throttle bug (annoying), the bugged missions (game breaking for some) or the exploding SRV (effectively cripples long-range synthesis-reliant exploration). Many of these issues were reported in beta. I find it very difficult to be sympathetic under the circumstances, and it's only the fact that I have LEPs that's aiding me in keeping some perspective. Other customers paid full whack for a year-long "season" in which significant parts of the game have been effectively unplayable for 1/12 of that window. If I'd paid full price for Horizons in December I'd be absolutely livid.

There is no bug with the SRV throttle - however, there IS a problem with Drive-Assist switched on WHEN using the throttle - big difference.

Drive with DRIVE-ASSIST OFF and your skills behind a wheel will become a reality! Honestly, I think it is Drive-Assist that is the problem, as I've not had a problem driving when it is off.

When people tell the Devs that there is a bug with the SRV throttle, you are effectively telling them to look in the wrong place for something that isn't "broken".

It's good to see stuff getting fixed. But what about the API bugs? We reported those many times and got no single word if you will do anything about it or not. A summary can be found here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=225246

For us 3rd party developers it's very frustrating. We spent thousends of hours to contribute to the game and improve the user experience. Why is it so hard to communicate with us? If you don't wanna fix it, fine - just say so. But keeping quiet is just frustrating.

Why?

Getting permits was one of the accomplishments you could do in Elite Dangerous back when not that much content had been included.

And now you take it away. Especially since Phekda was really hard to get. I know, it has been made easier in the recent past, but it was still at least some effort. Now all that has been wasted.

I really don't know. There have been numerous reports in the Permits thread that the permit was completely unobtainable for some time, because the mission to get the permit was not triggering.

Reading the bug fix, it looks like a catch 22 has been fixed (you needed to go to the system to get the permit, but couldn't get to the system because you needed the permit.....)

That's my guess anyway.

No offense, but I really hope you're wrong. :)

He then notices something moving, and realises to his horror he went through the wrong door, and is now in the crocodile enclosure!

Well, you definitely could get the permit outside of Phekda. Yes, there was no Phekda society controlled station outside of Phekda (at least that's before those were added sometime in fall last year), but you could still get the missions and at some point of course the permit as well. I know, because I have it. And yes, I had to search for hours, if not days.

Yes - I got it myself just after Horizons by selling exploration data, and the permit mission spawned properly for me, so I haven't really understood what was different just after that - say sometime around christmas.

Something must have changed but I don't know what, and today's patch fixes it.

Do the above "General Changes" "Client Text Display" "Networking" "Server Side Fixes" Apply to Users, who just own the Stranded Elite Dangerous (With out Horizons)

Do you get paid to play ED? I want your job. :p

I could go on about Phekda but suffice to say many thanks FD for making a pigs ear of it. Just another thing dear to me in the game that's got changed without any consideration or warning. And correct me if I'm wrong but has a user group been allowed to establish itself in there (bunch of KLF fans by the sound of it)?

*shakes head in disbelief at dev decisions*
