I was told differently. I was told that the Kessel run was a smuggling run in which the ships that you deliver and take cargo from are constantly moving and the distance grows between them. Completing that run in less than 12 Parsecs was supposed to mean that he did his job so well that he completed it in less distance travelled than any other competitor.
It's just one of those occasions where "canon" is bent to explain a script boo-boo. A parsec was meant as a unit of time in the film. It was just wrong.
Incidentally, a Parsec is about 3.3 light years and is actually short for "parallax of a light second". It is the distance at which a distant star will appear to move by one arc-second when the viewing point is moved by 1 Astronomical Unit (AU, The distance from the Earth to the Sun). Of course, if the same meaning of "Parsec" is used in Star Wars, Which planet and star were used as the baseline, as they certainly hadn't heard of Earth (as we are in a galaxy far away and far in their future).
Much the same ..... but it wasn't Luke Skywalker I was fantasising about![]()
Heya,
I understand the sentiment and feeling you're talking about.
For the competition specifically, we did have winners and they have been contacted, I'll ask Brett C who has that list of winners to get the thread closed up and highlight the winners which must have been missed. I'm sorry for the delay in closing the thread.
As for the newsletter, the majority of content is relevant to everyone playing on all platforms. I understand that the Horizons highlights might not be relevant but the the majority should be. Everything from the story line updates, in game events, CG's and even Pax south are open to all players on all platforms.
The Pax south streaming DOES includes a free paint job (which is obviously not available to Xbox players), we will be making sure that all Xbox Commanders can register for the free paint job and will receive it once they are available.
The Pax south event itself will also be demoed exclusively on Xbox One consoles too.
As I said, I really do understand the frustration. We certainly haven't forgotten the Xbox One community. There are developers working on the game (and some juicy bits of information form Gary on the possible dates too) and we do try and include the community in events such as the 24 hour livestream, the CQC tournament which is coming up in 2016 which has its own Xbox One format tournament with 50% of the prize fund only going to Xbox One players, the in game rare which was picked by Xbox One players. I'd also be happy to promote any player led events and initiatives if there are any specific Xbox One events then let me know and we will make an effort to spread the word too.
We’re also going to be including Xbox One in all our future initiatives. For example, I would like to start a “Galactic Academy” which is a way to help support new users into the game and part of that will be to have veteran players from both PC and Xbox Supporting the new players as part of this process. I would also like to do an Educating Ed in the future which focuses on just the Xbox One community. Ideally involving people like Ben or one of the other guys from Elite one, perhaps invite Jon from pixel bandits. Finally we would also like to make some of the Danger Zone CQC match ups Xbox exclusive too. So keep your eyes peeled for those.
In short, I don't want you to think I am dismissing your concerns, I really am not. I do understand the concern in the community. We're going to be making a conscious effort to try and make sure the balance is fair and that the community feel more supported. If you have any ideas, suggestions or things you would like to bring up, then you are always welcome to send me a PM on the forums.
Thanks,
Zac

That's a lot of text to say the usual "soon".
I think FD's biggest hurdle with their console side fans it's their total lack of transparency, and with consoles that's a dangerous tactic. Consoles have been burned on a pretty consistent basis by devs saying things like "soon","we're working on it", "we plan to..." etc. Hell Bungie went from a fan favorite to being Just about the most hated dev on earth because of the same behavior that FD is displaying.
Don't be afraid to give your community details of WHY the content they crave it's taking so long. They'll not only appreciate it, but may actually provide great ideas to help your team get things working. Just being mum only fuels speculations and makes your community feel forgotten.
Don't be like Bungie. They've lost all the respect and credibility they had for simply ignoring their community. I see FD doing the same thing, and it's not going to help your case.
Oh, hell, not another Boba Fett fetishist............
Agreed on Bungie, Disagreed on Frontier.
Zac's reply is all we ever wanted. There is no reading between the lines here. Its just Zac's comment.
You comment is the exact reason why i really cant blame Mod's and Dev's to actively comment on these forums, because, for guys like you, they do never right..
Eh...

Chill out dude. FD seemed confused on the community response, and I was offering a perspective as to why people react the way they do.
"People like you"? You don't know me from Adam bro, don't assume to.

You're both delirious about Bungie.
Bungie has a lot of haters, but they have hundreds of times more lovers of their games than ED even has players at any given point.
So keep your statements in check boys, right or wrong, you're still just the vocal minority and Bungie is still top tier that any studio should want to aspire to.

Not sure if trolling or completely unaware of reality.
