What's the system name for way point 8? I'm sitting at way point 7 not knowing where to go. A little help please.
Waypoint 8 details will be posted after 6 and 7. If you need to go ahead, you're probably better off skipping some WPs to Sag A* if you can't hang around and wait for the rest of us.

This is why I am playing this game...

...just look at the detail in that crater wall...and the sky.

Okay, there is some work to be done on textures and shadows and lighting but, come on...even in the current state, this is just great stuff.

Blown away.

Yeah and you can go back there anytime and that detail persists, just as it will for all the spots on that landable planet or the billions of other planets... I know it's randomly generated using a seed to keep it persistant and the same for all, but the numbers and detail makes an outstanding experience for the players.

I am guessing at billions, actually expect it to be 100's billions, anyone know how many landable planets exist in ED2.0?

Alright. However in the description it says that the system has 4 ELW so I know someone has been there and knows the name. I just need to know the ball park area so I can be some what close please.

Found a system with one neutron star, one landable planet and nothing else. And being in a rather dark part of the galaxy I decided to land on the dark side of the planet. It really brings out the galactic plane.

No innocent CMDR's ship or SRV were injured during the filming of these clips, although the stars might feel violated...

Let's assume 100 billion star systems in the galaxy; not all have planets and of those with planets not all are landable but there are very often many landable planets and moons so the average per system is probably well over 1 - it would be difficult to be precise given the non-uniform distribution of star system types - so your guess of 100s of billions sounds good.

I will have a quick look tomorrow if I can think of a good way of selecting "all-star-systems-within-a-certain-radius" that doesn't involve overmuch tedium.

It's easy to find out if you really want to know...

(Hint - the way point name comes from the Galactic Mapping Project)

I'll see if Dr Kaii can get an interview with the two pilots for next weeks newsletter. I guess its part of the DW story line that's unfolding as we cross the galaxy, so will probably be one of those incidents thats remembered for a long time!

This would be quite an article, I think. I'd be very interested to read about this "incident" i more detail!

Please note, this issue outlined below has now been resolved. It took a week and my son lost some distance, everything else seems untouched. Typical he hears back same day I loose it and have a long rant lol...

Hi guys, just a little rant here.

I may be leaving the expedition due to the action of Frontier and an unknown (EXPLETIVE REMOVED) who stole my sons account.
Please find my rant to frontier below…

No need to read it, the main points are, my son had his account stolen (so we are told now), he has had it locked because he acquired a lot of credits in a short period, and he has had his ship moved to an earlier location, and possibly had his account restored to an earlier state (credits, ship etc.), he still cannot access the account.....

So, if this has happened, the expedition is losing two members due to some (EXPLETIVE REMOVED) (EXPLETIVE REMOVED) little (EXPLETIVE REMOVED)!

Just for a giggle, here is my sons response to me when he first heard that they had locked his account, if you want the unedited version let me know via PM, I think it is rather funny lol
"7:26:38 PM: So I got a (EXPLETIVE REMOVED) response back from Frontier
7:26:55 PM: The (EXPLETIVE REMOVED) think I (EXPLETIVE REMOVED) hacked money into the game and the (EXPLETIVE REMOVED) have suspended my account
7:27:05 PM: So I gotta wait until the (EXPLETIVE REMOVED) wake up and realise you gave me money
7:27:07 PM: Soooo yeah"

Fair wind and a following sea, commanders o7

“Hi guys,

My Son's name is (Redacted) and his character name is very imaginatively (Redacted) (kids lol)

I know you have procedures you must follow, however, prior to my son having access to his account suspended he had not played in a long while.

OK, my rant :D

Firstly, I'd like to start with the fact my son is in the Autism spectrum... you are punishing an autistic boy for things that were out of his control.

I finally talked my son into joining me on the Distant Worlds Expedition, as usual he left it rather late to begin preparation. When he tried to log back into his account his ship type and location was not what he had remembered. I suggested he change his password in the event that his account had been compromised, and further he should change his email password and force every system currently logged into his web mail to be logged out, which he did.

To assist him to make enough money in the time we had left to buy an Anaconda and outfit in time for the expedition we began a nightly (our time) routine of swapping cargo from my ship to his. If you check our game activity, you will see they match up. I also have video showing this activity. If you want video, I can upload this. Is this method of transferring credits not allowed?

what I am asking is, without being told any details of his account or current progress in your investigation.... Should someone’s child (autistic or not) be punished for having his account hacked? Should someone be punished for others misdeeds? Is the transfer of cargo between players not allowed? If so all player pirates should be banned from the game also!

Now my son is roughly one week behind on the expedition and may never catch up, I am also told by my son that you have changed his location in game so he has may have to travel again, and I am not clear on the details.... you may have also reverted his ship to an earlier point in game play... If so I want all my credits back! I gave him enough money via cargo transfer to buy an anaconda outright, plus equipment. If you have removed his ship, we will have to meet back in the bubble, spend days transferring cargo and this will also mean I will have to sell my ship to afford this to happen.

Basically, you have effectively punished my son for having his account stolen, possibly removed many millions of credits from my game, and ended our participation in the expedition.

I understand that you have protocol to follow, but these may need reviewing, or at least expedited somewhat.

This may be the push we needed to move on to another game, shame I already bought the lifetime expansion pack lol”

Sometimes you want to just sit and stare.

45 minutes on a binary planet with 0.3d rotational period before I got disconnected.
Probably for the best as I didn't know how much fuel I had left in the srv.

Full screen version of the canyon half an hour before I started to film the sequence

Some other sights in the system including sitting on top of a 9.5 km high mountain on PRO AEC TT-A E0 AB 1 A

And exploring the canyons on the dark side

That was the first time I went canyon flying. In my slow turning Anaconda nonetheless. Luckily I have had plenty of practice with strafing around corners in my years of gaming. Side thrusters are very useful to keep on track! Great fun.

Guy's, whats the private group under which the expedition is being co-ordinated. I'm in Mobius at the moment but donot see anyone at any of the camps in GalMap.

I'm doing this at my own pace and have reached Lagoon Nebula only yesterday but it would be sweet to see a beeline of commanders headed to the core on GalMap.

There are a lot of us in the Kamzel group, think that is the main one

I went for a drive down at the bottom of the big crater yesterday. I thought I had the stamina to drive all the way back up again - my arduous training in the mountains of Morrowind and Skyrim having prepared me for the art of ascending impossible cliffs - but after a while I realised I'd much rather be back in my nice cozy ship, so I called it back...

Very funny, Ship. Just hovering there looking at me with those big puppy-dog eyes. So I had to climb the mountain after all. :)
Nice. I went down it yesterday until there was no more down (depth of about 10km), but as long as that took there was no way I was climbing back out.
