^^ Oooh, this! And it's looking for those responsible for heartlessly blasting chunks off of its mother. All you let's-harvest-stuff-off-of-something-we-know-nothing-about-for-a-quick-buck, er, people better watch your backs!![]()
Beat me to it!
Makes me wonder though... are these Thargoids, or rogue AIs?
Random theory time:
UA = Rogue AI, Barnacle = Something else.
Barnacle definitely related to the UA in some way, but the two are still quite different. Rogue AI found some way to incorporate the Barnacles into their "appearance and effects", and now the UAs have been scanning our ships, they've also started replicating them and incorporating their appearance and effects also.
Or completely unrelated...
And yet still I was thinking exactly the same...That's some top level tin foil hattery there![]()
Well now that "anyone" can be a Thargoid, maybe people will stop suspecting me.![]()

if it is aliens, perhaps they need Pro Palin to work something out with the meta-alloy. They couldn't exactly ask for help could they, you know with all the itchy trigger fingers an all.
Even if the S ships turn out to be Thargoid infiltration units I see no issue with this, the plot is clearly slow-burn, I see no issue with small iterative steps.
To be fair with FD, IIRC, they never said the aliens were part of season 2. Michael just said that the UA story arc would be developped further. Aliens might be still far away.
I don't think people are against "small iterative steps" though. I suspect a lot of people assume FD will always go for the worst option (in this case : no original artwork for the aliens). Now, perhaps the real question is : why do they think that ?
This Galnet post is bizarre because the way it's written it just seems like completely trivial non-news. A well-known ship flew near a station, but didn't decide to dock, scanned, and left... and it warrants a Galnet post? Whaa? The only possibly interesting thing is the "high speed pass". And apparently the name is unusual, despite an incredible variety of names in this game, meaning it's just another name, I don't know.
It keeps contradicting itself, it makes no sense. It's an unidentified spacecraft, and yet it's just a DBE. It was a close-quarters encounter, and yet it was 10km away. This is so weirdly (poorly) written.
It'll take you a couple minutes, it's not that far. Consider taking a Diamondback Explorer
Just make sure you don't go 10km from a station and then leave, you'll get way too much Galnet attention.
Well that Mullet of your was a dead givaway.
Donald Sutherland is pointing at me! Run!
