Is this what you're referring to?

he also claimed to have found a UA floating in normal space outside an orbis station:

and we all know that just doesn't happen.

it's also not the first time he's claimed to have seen something moving too fast to catch. from September 2015:

3 strikes, I for one do not believe this guy.

Wait.
when I was doing my experiments with the T-ships, I left many times an UA outside a Station, to switch ship and come to it again.
A couple of times the UA was gone when I came back.

So, perhaps he just found one of mine...

Would it be worth it to create a spreadsheet with a complete list of systems + planets for each surveyed nebula?

I'm not suggesting something necessarily as complete (and COMPLEX) as what NetSlayer is doing with his survey, but more a just a set of lists. I pretty much do that already when I go exploring, probably many others as well (gotta spend that supercruise time doing SOMETHING).

Seems like using an add-on like ED ToolBox could really make it very simple to do. I've never tried it, though (or any other add-on). Anyone?

As other have already said, we have a spreadsheet for that.

Anyway EDToolbox is amazing and I love it: I was one of the first who started using it few days ago when it came out, and now I cannot do without.
I did a post about it here as well.

Well, there still seems to be a history of 'curios' and matching patterns in his stories. And no real answers - if any, when asked for clarifications. But let's not make this all about one person (which is not saying that your post is intended to do just that). I'd say let's not jump at shadows but let's also treat this with the appropriate caution, the mystery is a big one as is without all that. I guess anyone involved will be on the lookout for other mysterious ships anyway but i feel like the ways to find it are pretty much still unknown right now. If finding any is at all possible - since without the report in question, we don't even know it's anything but GalNet news right?

I am keeping an eye out, as I am sure many others are, but apparently no cryptic messages have yet been found?

I thought I had heard of at least one being found. It contained a message broken up by a series of numbers which turned out to be ASCII. It gave coordinates for a planet but all that was found was a regular undiscernable crash site with a cargo rack with some rare rocks in it or something.

Actually sorry, the one you refer to was actually the first Treasure Hunt we had in Horizons Beta, another was supposedly found but it was posted on the 22nd of December.

I agree.
"Picture or it didn't happen" has been the rule n.1 here, since day one. ;)

Oh shoot, my mistake. I thought I had read something posted shortly after these were mentioned by one of the devs recently. Well I'll keep up my search for those I guess, along with SS1 wreckage and mystery ships if they're even out there.

I spent some time in Alioth, no strange ships found but it is a wealthy system. Also i noticed in the local paper they are sending an expedition out to the Dumbbell Nebula.

Wait what?

I don't check local papers that much... why were they doing that? Any more info? Is this unusual or just standard fluff?

Excuse my ignorance but is finding SSS far from the bubble (Asterope, 1 jump from Maia) normal? Also i never saw the commodity "scientific research", it was carried by a python called "medical transport". Again sorry if it's just an ordinary occurrence, i'd rather be sure then bite myself in the butt one day :)

Perfectly normal unfortunately. Always worth a double check when you see something new

While searching Pleiades Sector JC-U B3-2 for barnacles, does anyone else get the feeling that planet 10 is watching?

This could be really interesting!?

from a programming perspective, S6:7 may be a string reference for localized text.
Where did it first occur, is it still there or has someone fixed it?

I'm curious whether it's a bug really, there been such text missing previously while the localized reference existed.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it appears to be a player-created post:

Doesn't mean there's nothing interesting... but I wouldn't hold my breath.
