It would be nice if we could avoid descending to the levels some of the Star Citizen forum posters with all the game bashing stuff and keep things constructive. It doesn't make any sense as there is more than enough room for both games and they're taking enough different approaches that they will stand out from each other.

Personally I'm looking forward to SC as both a backer and a subscriber, but I honestly am starting to have a few concerns about the direction it's going. Just going to have to wait for the DFM to be released and hope it allays some of my fears.

Mind you I also think that, judging from the stability issues during the presentation the other night, we might well be playing the Elite: Dangerous beta before the DFM actually reaches us backers...

This thread, is doing nothing more than fuelling the Elite vs Star Citizen hostility, and I for one want to see it stop.
Moderators, do I have to really start reporting EVERY post just to get your attention, because if that's what it takes ... I will.

To everyone else, STOP IT. Stop fighting each other. No more Alpha vs Beta ... no more ED vs SC. No more Us & Them. No more, please.

If some people take a SC vs ED viewpoint then that is their choice. No need to suppress their opinion just because you don't like it.

This is the "General" section and this thread is clearly related to ED because the SC flight dynamic and gameplay is being compared to ED. It is not like it is a thread on Call of Duty or something.

And yes, it is just like a thread on Call of Duty. The ED General section is for threads on Elite Dangerous. A thread on Star Citizen has no place in a section about Elite Dangerous.

I agree, location can be argued about, but this thread prevents the discussion breaking out in a multitude of threads. Best to keep us safely locked up in one thread and as long as we have some rational debate it should all be good.

I am reserving judgement to be honest... We have seen one demo and on a very unfinished product. I will wait until the DFM is released and see what people post then (I will purchase sc at retail).

Ok, sorry for the over quotation , but tbqh the amalgamation of those post kinda translates my feelings about this thread.

Starting by the last, we as gamers would not have nothing to fear from SC except if it becomes a complete and utter failure (specially if you pledged on it). Does anyone thinks that the XR debacle did any good for the genre? And the le of the thread sets in a us vs them mood. While ED vs SC would be an improvement, synchromesh proposal is better.

But Wulf is quite right - just don't take it too seriously

Finally, a word of appreciation for our kind moderators (special /hug Geraldine) - you've been doing a great job! These unruly space commanders are not always an easy crowd

well I don't see what people are getting at here. I think it looks good in its own style and people who played $25 still get to play the dog fight module unlike elite were people have to pay 100s to play premium beta or alpha. imagine the load that sc servers have to handle when that starts off. I can bet there will be a lot of difficulty's but at least they are trying

both games have different approaches . its just a matter of taste and budget lol

here is 14 minutes of Star Citizen, on seeing this I now know for Sure that Elite was the one to throw money at. the flight mechanics on this game are, well lets leave that up to you.

I guess that's the problem with showing Incredible videos in the kickstarter which show slightly better battle sequences than this unfortunately...

Frontier got kind of moaned at for not having anything to show but now I think it was better that way..

To be honest my expectations where higher and much more like the videos.
Hopefully it will get to that stage..

Two games, two different styles and two opportunities to play space games. Great times. Which is better and which will be my preferred game will be answered as the games mature to release. Till then I reserve judgment.

No problem! I trade game packages and even accounts. PM me and I'll buy you out with a fair offer.

But you may regret listening to much of the uninformed whining I have until now been successfully able to ignore.

SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT.

Firstly - the flight model. Read about it. Be informed. Then whine if you still need to, but in an informed way.

Secondly, complaints about the PAX event - Yes, CR wants to make the game his way. This means he went to the event and had a drink with the fans, used a gamepad instead of the Warthog (screwing his aim), and relied on a faulty server holding a corrupt copy of the Multiplayer DFM without having a backup, had no one save him while things went wrong waiting for awkward delays, and yes, he turned up without a safer prerecording of the DFM because he wanted to show off the real thing (A PRE PRE ALPHA!) - He did all that without polished media releases, but you know what - over SC way we backed to let him make HIS game and do things HIS WAY. You know, kind of like the founder of another space sim I respect.

Thirdly, the desire of so many to chime in and agree with public sentiment without asking valuable questions that would explain things not always understood. Don't assume, or state unless you really know the facts - ask. Some of us SC Vets can probably shine some light on it.

Fourthly, aside from the asinine thread title, which conjured up trolling and trouble like no tomorrow, OP at least have the decency to link to the full thing, so people get the context, and don't just see a snippet - at least as an option. Failing that link people to an honest review of what actually happened, or even his 1.5 minute interview on what went wrong with the demo.

The crowd at PAX was revolting, but this is what happens when you get two or three drunken hecklers and is not representative of the passionate fans over at SC. The mistake at PAX was allowing booze in the first place - trust me - the SC community is just as annoyed at the loutish behaviour as people would be here.

Finally, since when did SC and ED become a peeing contest / competition / something to be feared? Respect the passion of both individuals making the game, David and Chris, and celebrate that this genre is awesome.

It never has here to be honest and I think this is just a comparison thing.
If you want a peeing contest then try the SC Forums ...Usually when I post there I get nothing but put down with sarcastic remarks !!

But it doesn't put me off wanting SC to be as good as it possibly can ..

exactly. I am backer of those two games! too much time has gone wasted in the computer industry without good space games. I will not let one fight the other. both can coexist in peace! theres always the time where you fed up with one game - tadaa now you can switch back and forth- isnt that great?

I know you feel the way I do that the put downs are not particularly constructive wherever done. It's just as wrong over there than over here - And for the record, I just as positive about there about ED as I am about SC over there.

To the people who are looking for any excuse to sling mud, please don't, it's not helpful, it's not appreciated.

This is a great time to be a space sim fan, let's not argue over who killed who. SC has huuuge... tracts of land. And if you feel like singing, you can stop that right now!

Perhaps you missed it I backed them in the first few days because I was invited too I loved all the other games CR was involved with and still play them all . But I am Elite and if I do any testing with the veteran backers I will pass on my true opinion and will keep passing on my opinion even if I am slated because of it . If it does not get any better no one will need to buy my extensive game pack I will give it away . Frontier have won my heart now we have to see if my heart can share too space sims .
And trust me if Criss pulls me round and shows how good SC can be you and every body will know I said so then even if you offer me more than triple what I paid £350 = £1050 I would say no thanks . I am a Space Sim PC gamer Elite and SC rocks we just have to see witch one rocks the hole world and weather I play both .
