General / Off-Topic Things that annoy you more than they should.

Hearing people eating is a major one for me. Also people eating with their mouths open, and people who have no table manners.

Mine seem to be food related :)

Religious/superstitious gullibility annoys me far more than it should.
Having been there myself I feel I should be more understanding, but my stomach knots up when confronted with it. I feel my instinctive aversion of it has reached unhealthy levels.

Anyone else have any 'annoyances' they would like to share ? ;)

1. Traffic wardens
2. Australians
3. Bankers
4. Australians
5. Estate Agents
6. Australians
7. Politicians

Oh, and Australians because they are so 'big headed' about absolutely everything. If you are an Australian, then I am sorry but I don't like you very much.

G'day!, core!, ripper!

Hell, one of my pet peeves is also sloppy spelling, stupid mistakes like: hangar->hanger, their->thier, they're->there, Riedquat->Reidquat, like->liek etc. etc. :)

People who stop at the top/bottom of escalators to have a group discussion of where they are going to go when they get their ***** sorted.

People who stand at the back of queues, when they are not queuing.

People who cant spell "queuing" without a spellchecker.

A country I know well suffered from this but in the most ridiculous way. Each day they would have the national anthem played in the morning and evening around government buildings, and popular public areas. Its considered extremely offensive not to stand to attention whilst its being played.

So there you are travelling to work and its getting to that time, with an eye on the watch hoping to get through before it begins, you get on the escalator and then music starts playing :(. As the natives step off the escalator they begin to stand obediently to attention whilst the music is played but in doing so they habitually forget to move out the way of the people who are coming off the escalator.

To watch, its quite amusing to see people piling up behind them as the escalator delivers all those who were on it at the time. As you are picking yourself up off the floor and falling all over people, cursing expletives, you get the most vacant stares in the world, like you have done something wrong.

Yeah that was kind of irritating.

Television.. I hate the way its the focus of so many peoples lives and is used to indoctrinate and leaves us all separated from one another. grrrr!

That weather woman on *BBC (edit), the middle aged one with blonde hair.. Why is she always so bloody chirpy and upbeat? Seriously annoying!

Crime and Detective programs on TV.. 'TV exec brainstorming new ideas.. hey how about a new detective program.. Yeah lets do it.' ARGH!

...using the word 'alot' (or 'allot') to describe more than one of something. That one really does my frikkin head in.

Ooh, a topical one, and rather anglo-centric: Romanticisation of brief pop culture fashions as important cultural shifts. Ref the recent media-gasm around Brit-rock's anniversary.

They don't annoy me as such, but I prefer Kit Kats...
That is decidedly off-
