Distant Worlds - A journey beyond the Abyss

i concur, hit the little sods constantly all the way to WP8, I dropped down the plane to -1800 from wp7 and have had neutrons, white dwarfs and black holes. Its been emotional.
Come on no need to go down on us like that. Monday I was only -500 or so down from the plain and I got myself stuck in a Black hole minefield. Scanned about 50black holes (95%undiscovered) that night with a streak of 20 BH in a row before I needed to a G star to refuel.
Because of that minefield I now need to find a way out of it and head to WP8 tonight.

I quite like Jeff... Or Steve.
There's a system called Bob in the bubble but there's no stations... Or it would have been my home.

After a weekend of debauchery I am now on my way from wp6 flying at wp8 which I will probably not make tomorrow.
If not I will be buckeyballing my way to wp-9.

I'm about 40 ly from WP 9. I'll get there tonight. I skipped WP 8 and went via the Great Annihilator which is higher up. It's definitely worth visiting and is I think only 1008 light years away. WP 9 looks like it will be pretty.

I've got two SRVs in my hold, and I've been driving them both very grannily. I guesstimate I'm about 1/3 through my outbound voyage, and with only a few % of module dings here and there, very pleased with that so far. :)

Now, all that said, when I'm back in the bubble I do want to take an afternoon and just learn how to fully use my wheels in madhouse mode in all sorts of gravity. Just... not quite yet!

As for the tracking of returned/unknown Commanders, I'm absolutely OK with the evolutionary approach that's been happening so far. In fact, I'm quite impressed with how it's been coming along! I installed EDDiscovery, and I've been adding trilaterations for interesting systems and flight logs as I go.

One question about EDDiscovery, though: Is there a way to check it for updates? I get the sense that a lot of features and tweaks are going in on a pretty regular basis!

Not too far from WP-8 with its quad ELW`s, I jumped into a system with four ringed T Tauri stars.

The first step is to enable verbose logging in your game [...] You can run a 3rd party application like ED Discovery

Thanks a lot for the reply! I used EDD for a while but ever since Horizons I just cannot get it to work anymore. So I've given up on that project. Right now I'm basically just looking for a way to find out how to enter the main waypoints once or twice a week so that my progress can be tracked somewhat.

You could leave the logging off and just enter your system into the 'Where are you?' text box at the top of the EDSM front page after every jump, or after selected jumps and I think that would probably work so long as you're logged in, but that's the most labour intensive option of all.

This is where my trouble lies. I have a suspicion that I'm simply being particularly stupid but I simply cannot figure out what to enter here. It says "Where are you? We need to receive or confirm some distances from the system you are right now." and then there's a text box where I can enter...something. But what? I figure I need to enter some distances to some systems, but formatted in what way? Sorry for being a pain. :(

I find it quite odd that theres this well known exploding SRV bug and yet people are playing tag with SRVs on the base camps.. :D

Yeah, lol. Be careful with those SRV's commanders. Yesterday I arrived at WP8, landed amongst a group of other ships, deployed my SRV, and just barely left the underside of my ship when BAM I got the warning "HULL CRITICAL" message. It dropped from 100% to 6% instantly, barely out of the shadow of my own ship, and I wasn't even moving fast at all. Just like the last time this bug hit me I was crawling slowly on a flat surface with no rocks around me.

I quickly repaired and then attempted to recreate it again by driving over the same spot at the same slow speeds, but alas it never happened again last night.

This bug is nasty, completely random, and can happen at any time anywhere without warning, so keep those SRV's at 97% hull or above commanders!

Buttslammed a high G and lost 8% hull today. Now that 92 is mocking me from the UI. I might have to put a bit of tape over it.

Well, after a fun couple of days with other CMDRs at Waypoint 8 and owing to time constraints ive had to skip ahead to the vicinity of waypoint 9. And I have to say its a fantastic choice for a waypoint, there are some pretty awesome sights. The Planetary nebula (Athaip Wisteria) Actually encompasses 2 star systems, one of which has landable planets and the other a black hole :)

Not to mention a second planetary nebula within 90Ly that has a neutron star at its heart :D

One planet was entirely pea green on one side and thanks to the ambient lighting, bright blue on the other

Hopefully I will meet the rest of the fleet there on Sunday/Monday, unless I'm away for longer than planned. Fly safe CMDRs.

Wrapped the images in spoiler tags, just in case you don't want to know...

What really is getting my goat is the silence from FD on this. We have seen it happen so many times. It's really screwing up our expedition. Why can't they just give us a status report on their findings?
