Can this be true ?
http://www.edsm.net/expeditions/participants/id/1/name/Distant+Worlds+Expedition+(2016)

Over 1/3 of all members (only counted for the 1st 150) have already abandoned us !

Well, I am not sure about the absolute numbers since that list under reports quite a bit, as does the Google spreadsheet "Progress Tracker", but I added a tab to the Google spreadsheet showing how many CMDRs reported in at each WP. The two independent measurements (automatic EDSM and manual Google spreadsheet) show about the same percentage decline in CMDRs at each WP (when normalised to the same starting numbers). To find the actual number of CMDRs at each WP, we just need a good number on how many commanders actually left Pallaeni for the Fine Ring.

Oh I can see what's happened easily enough. One of the EDSM devs closed me from the DW expedition before I submitted my logs for the last few days. I submitted them this evening, and while they show under my own profile, the DW page hasn't updated to reflect any change. Therefore I make the assumption that once you're closed from the expedition, the last system in the log at that moment is where your final system is recorded.
It's not a great problem to me, and I'm happy to leave it as it is.

I think the likes of yourself, Finwen, Anthor and all the other folks behind these community support systems are doing a great job.
I like how systems are being built on top of other systems incrementally. EDSM for the baseline. EDD2/Captain's Log for data acquisition and sync. The "Monster Sheet" looking to get integrated.
I'm interested to see how the proposed Prospector tab in EDD2 is going to shape up. :)

Hi Zenith,
Will update your date today, no worries. I took your last log date when I heard you were leaving!

Only because everyone who isn't registered counts as 'returned early', methinks. I'm one of them, and reports of my early return are greatly exaggerated. I'm right on schedule.

That is not true, not every one.
All people tracking in the Google doc are also tracked on EDSM manually.
I write them until #250.

If you are marked as returned early that means you have not registered on EDSM nor completed the Google doc.
If you're not feeding the tool provided how are we supposed to know where you are?

Everyone is welcome to send me a PM to have their profile corrected.

A lot of ppl don't fill the spreadsheet as its not manditory. So it's not reliable. I can straight out notice 3 ppl who are still on the trip but according to the spreadsheet are at 0% in the first 150 alone. And then we also have probebly around 50ppl who were already out exploring and just signed up because they want to meet up oncce the fleet gets close to them etc.

That wasn't meant as criticism, just as an explanation. I admire all the work put in those tools, databases, spreadsheets et al, kudos to everyone involved.

I was just surprised by the 'default to returned early' thing, a simple 'unknown' wouldn't have let to the assumption that so many people had already dropped out. It's supposed to be voluntary tool, after all, I didn't even realize it was used as a fleet tracker until last week. (Too many DW threads, I suppose. :) ) I'm sorry that I don't contribute (yet), but that's a matter of my personal priorities, which are subject to change depending on my spare time - right now, that is mainly reserved for keeping up with the fleet.

i concur, hit the little sods constantly all the way to WP8, I dropped down the plane to -1800 from wp7 and have had neutrons, white dwarfs and black holes. Its been emotional.

I dropped down early on my way to WP8 so that I can wade my way through these lovely objects...yum, yum, yum!!

We'll know for sure who completed the journey when the final role call is made at Beagle Point and names entered into the 65Kly club. Meanwhile, it would still be nice to know who left for one reason or another.

My money is on a 20% completion rate, although abandonment due to exploding SRV could bite more into that number than anticipated.

Well no offense taken, I just try to explain how we work on that :)
As I said CMDR can PM me, so we correct their profile.

I did not do an Unknown status, because it means more work on my side, and I waited Stage 2 to start feeling the abandon dates.
It is easier for me to watch the Google Doc once some a marked a Returned Earlier and I'm sure by the number of posts this decision made some of them will contact me ;)

@Macros By the way I marked you too as Returned Earlier, please send me where you are ;)

aaaaaaand I got the explodi-bug with my SRV.

Nuts

Just watched Dr Kaii commit death by SRV jump and thought I could drive to the top where he tried to leap (hilarious to watch by the way) and I made it. All the way to the top. 89% hull and BANG!

AARRGGHH!!

I'm amazed at the antics everyone but me gets up to in their SRV. I'm a bit of a chicken on the SRV front. But then I might have two left by Beagle point ;-)

Personally, I don't need an SRV to collect materials to complete the journey. Hopefully a decent number of ships out there pass the 34ly barrier so also don't rely on materials.

It's okay, I don't mind the status, it's not a problem for me.

TordenSkjold has a 25.5Ly range, fortunately current materials stock should be sufficient to get there and back. Still driving the SRV, but doing it very carefully and not under 97%, which is a pain frankly.

I miss tearing through the landscape in my SRV :(

But the horror stories of CMDRs having to wait 3 days(!) in the bubble, in fact the whole mechanism of SRV replacement puts me off to such an extend I'm not gonna.

FDev were kind enough to move me back to the bubble to refit my lost SRV, I was cheeky and refitted with 2. First thing I did when I got back to the DW base camp was jump over my ship and explode another SRV! Now I'm down to one and treating it VERY carefully!

I drove up a hill at 6kph. Drove along the top at 7kph.

This is as far from antics as you can get. I was almost anti-antics it was so unantic-like.

Just chilling by one of the Earthlikes at wp8.

Exploding SRV

I find it quite odd that theres this well known exploding SRV bug and yet people are playing tag with SRVs on the base camps.. :D

Well, to each his own. I'm not the one driving the SRV, but it was still funny as heck.

I laughed, but would not be laughing if it was me who had to go back the 20K of Dannii's back to the bubble. That is not the SVR exploding bug hehe, you can't exactly ticket that

But if you could: Ticket: SRV exploded, Reason: Trying to jump over two Anacondas. Effect on Gameplay: No SRVs left!
