Still think you don't need to make players immune to the weapons/ramming of other players, just kick players who go against the rules out of the Group then that works good enough in my opinion.
No new gamemechanics and whatnot, just using what is currently already in the Game to create a PvE mode like mobious just without a cap as to how many can join and moderated by more then one player, thats about the only two changes I would make. Granted I don't know how easy they would be to do, at least as far as the Player cap goes it seems that is a difficult matter to change. Didn't sound like that is likley to be changed ever.
Alltough we don't know where the cap is, if it is at 1 billion player then it doesn't matter. I mean, I'm sure its not at 1 billion, but you know what I mean ^^
Depending on how ED manages the modes and groups inside their matchmaking servers adding an extra mode might be easier than increasing the group size limit that Mobius has already reached. But that very much depends on the implementation details for their servers and how they optimized things, something we have no inkling of; I was previously working under the assumption that there were no group size limitations in their matchmaking engine, no scalability issues, something I can't be sure of anymore.
Blockading and blockade running is role-play in this game - only those who want to take part in such a play-style do - others avoid it.
Very much this. In essence, no player can ever prevent me from going anywhere and interacting with anything in game; I can just switch modes and proceed as if that player didn't even exist. Which, for those of us that don't want others to have power over us, and are willing to give up on the possibility of having power over other players to achieve that, is a great feature.
as an open player its the randomness of "open players " what make the game and not people holding hands. quite frankly im sick of hearing about mobius ,it really sounds boring and you can only think what its fan base is like. it completely ruins the point of elite in open and the random environment of space. which for me is what elite is about. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN AND IT USUALLY DOES !! its all about the freedom the sandbox allows. i think mobius players miss out on so much. let the flames begin !
They miss the parts of the game they don't like in the first place, so they don't get much of a downside compared with playing in Open.
I know quite well what this kind of open world PvP entails; I started playing MMOs before WoW had even launched, and at that point I was already following the development of the genre for years, since before graphic interfaces became common. I've experienced open PvP a few times, the last one in EVE. And I'm quite sure that, as long as I live, I don't want to ever try a game that goes for mixed PvP and PvE in an open environment again. From my point of view, this kind of player conflict adds only downsides, without a single redeeming quality.
