Distant Worlds - A journey beyond the Abyss

Just been thinking (yes, it does happen occasionally), as I have a thing about lists, and have been reading about various near catastrophic demises, do we need a percentage hull left list??? or is my obsessive compulsive list disorder getting the better of me?

I only have a GT 740m in my laptop, so I'm driving at max 15fps on planets. Maybe low fps has something to do with it. I do prefer driving on high g worlds on mostly flat terrain (tumbling at 12fps isn't fun). I've never used the extra strength repair though, always do a basic repair when I reach 95%.

I lost one at a meetup too, my laptop lagged so bad that I lost control of my SRV at WP1 and crashed into my own ship while trying to dock.

Edit: And again, 100% to 7% while driving at full speed on flat terrain avoiding any rocks, that's 5 now. At least I know I'm safe as long as I keep the SRV above 95%
After repairing I misjudge a jump over a crater at full speed, land badly, roll onto the roof, 100% to 99%. Makes perfect sense!

Just making sure...you know that once you go back to your ship the SRV gets fully repaired, right? So no need to spend the mats on a basic repair....

The basic repair, as it is right now, is for circumstances where you are falling down a cliff, and you need to keep repairing in order to make it to the bottom alive.

I imagine is also good in the bubble when in combat and sustaining damage.

But out here, once you go back to your ship, it repairs to full 100%.

Such a compulsion to make lists is at once mental, and totally understandable.

Well, it looks like a lot of people are making a beeline for WP11 and skipping 10 (the blue marker is my location at WP10 and the line of green friendlist icons stretches from WP11 to WP9). I can understand the sentiment, the core is a big attraction and the stop for WP10 seems a bit unnecessary given that WP11 is so close, but the little planet that's been picked is beautiful!
Prepare for company :) I'll start my journey to WP10 tonight. I want to at least "fly through" every waypoint and don't skip one.

Plan on trying to explore, not sure if I can join in DWE since I don't have a good explore ship yet, still working on getting enough credits to build up my cobra atleast.

True, yet I pick up all Mesosiderites, Metallic outcrops and Metallic meteorites while prospecting and gathering data for the monster. Which means I always have plenty of nickel and iron. It's a whole lot faster to hit repair without ever slowing down than to wait for the ship to show up. Plus I don't have to worry about this https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=198085&page=424&p=3568669&viewfull=1#post3568669 :)

Oh, and always zoom out the mini map a bit so you do not fall down cliffs ;)

Im making my way to WP10 my friend...I expect to be there by either 2100-2200hrs gametime, failing that then it will be tomoro morning.

I spend the materials to repair my SRV the moment it goes down to 97%. Iron and nickel are easy to come by and I don't want to wait to recall my ship and then drive over to it, board it, then deploy and let the ship fly off, especially as there often isn't anywhere to land nearby. I very rarely go prospecting on flat plains.

The only time I lost an SRV to the explosive bug, was when I used the Standard SRV repair (enhanced hull) a few hours before, then docked to my ship later.. and after I went out of the ship for a min or less, my SRV exploded. I am pretty sure these aren't related though.

Found this lonely planet near the "Great Annihalator", on way to WP10. 4 suns and a giant canyon!

Fo you have the searchable name or coordinates of the nebula? So us others could take a look?

Check out the BLEIA5 YE-A H30 nebula. The system I discovered was a neutron star (BLEIA5 CL-X D1-5392) at the edge of the nebula but the whole nebula and area in front of it is locked.

It's the nebula not far from the Magnus nebula, way point 17. The thing is that it's really far from the bubble if Frontier are going to do some story arc about it. It's not exactly the Pleiades! Imagine trying to organise an invasion fleet to travel that far!

Hmmm, looks like the same one I found the other day....are we going to race back to the bubble to see who gets to name it?

In all seriousness, the day they let us land on these ELW's will be the same day my real life is ruined.

Might be, or it might just be a similar one.

I'll tell you what, i'll PM you the system name and..... hey, wait a minute! You don't get me like that!

Its mine! Its my precious!

Unlike other recent posters I'll share my ringed precious stuff, and I can even find the moon orbiting it!
