Yup. Happened to me once and I spent 2 days back in the bubble before being sent back, which made me reluctant to use SRV's again, as I had no desire to go through that process again. Kudos to support for being accommodating and all, but I really hope this is the last we've seen of that bug and it doesn't make a comeback - looking forward to some surface fun again

Should I stay/return to the main fleet after a view days or explore a bit more on the above the plain for the entirety of my weekend as wel and then catch up (avoiding the rest of the core-region in the process).

I bet, that the Rock Rats will be among the first to see, if the bug is really gone. Maybe we have harrassed Support so much with our teleports, that the devs have made an extra effort to solve the problem.
