Did you not read that enormous monthly report linked by Max earlier?

Ooof that wall of text...I just can't. This is not how you communicate development. I certainly hope this isn't how they communicate development objectives internally.
Didn't one of their devs say they were redoing all the character models in one of their verse shows the other day?
And all the others looked at him like a bunch of actors would look at someone who uttered the actual name of "the scottish play".
I get the feeling that the SC evangelists see it as negative trolling when confronted with skepticism.
Yes, I am very skeptical of the project. However, I am very hopeful for its success.
I don't believe there is one readily available - I've tried looking but I don't believe such a thing exists. From what I can gather from what is available, development changes focus on a completely random basis - sometimes apparently by the hour. CIG have had a continual problem with focus "We want this, we can do that, this is how we see things working in the future!" but then simply deliver oodles of stuff about plants, or fish, or mixing drinks, or how guilds will entertain other guilds on their posh carriers. Oh, and ship sales - and outfits, and pretty much every other meaningless add-on they can imagine.
SC has made great progress. We can see that in the latest build. I'm just not sure that the amount of progress that is evident is worth the amount of time and money that has been put into it though.
Hopefully future releases will add more content, fix the bugs, and provide a more substantial game background upon which all the other things they want to add can be attached. It's been their design philosophy from the very beginning, but we just haven't seen that really being applied.
That's what the weekly Around the Verse shows are for.
The community asked for a more in-depth periodic rundown, so they decided to do these Monthly Reports. They've been extremely well received by the backers, who these are targeted for.
They do look gorgeous though don't they, with absolutely no money on the line I enjoy seeing their artwork and designs, I look forward to reading the reviews after release and seeing whether it's worth playing.
This Marine fiasco, what's with it? Why hasn't it been released? I must be living under a rock, last I remember it was looking good and seemingly ready at the very least for beta?

Yes - I don't think anyone can disagree there - they have some very talented artists. While I disagree with some of the design philosophies and aesthetics - what they are modelling does look very pretty.
This explains it far better than I can. http://www.tentonhammer.com/columns/respawn/oh-well-star-marine-now-canceled
Basically it's cancelled, as it's functionality has been built-in to the rest of the game. However, seeing as they are keen on splitting the game back up, I think that may be reversed at some point.

Star Marine is still an outstanding deliverable given the large amount of content that is supposed to go with it that is still missing from the PU.
nitty gritty: what are we doing right now? What are we improving and why? I hope you find it an interesting read and that you understand why Star Marine isn’t like anything I’ve ever developed!

Oh yes - didn't they apparently have that football game they were so keen on, ready for release in a few weeks yonks ago?
I wonder how well it fairs now with the updated EVA physics and animations.

This is my favourite bit though.
Those assets were probably repurposed for serving mixed drinks, and rescuing someones napkin when it gets blown out the airlock![]()
