A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

Influence tick has occoured, minor factions can expand up to 50ly
Can you provide any details, please? I'm quite intrigued. Was it a straight expansion to a system with less than 5 factions, or was it an expansion that displaced another faction? Is it possible that it was a double displacement like the one discussed above, or are the conditions different? Thanks.

Folks, did everyone get expected influence effects in today's tick. We are seeing some potentially anomalous results, indicating missing action effects (or possibly enemy action!)

Is there a set % within which you must fall in order to trigger a War?

Before todays tick

FAC A 52.5% (own the only outpost)
FAC B 47.5%

After the tick

FAC A 48% (own the outpost)
FAC B 52%

They are the only 2 factions in the system, of 1 outpost to fight over.

ticks here have been as expected in terms of percentage, we would have expected our war won (and the outpost we are fighting for (currently more than 30% leading, more then 3 actual ticks ongoing), so i suspect parts of the tick did not resolved states (in our case).

We saw an increase of 3.8 percent today. This is very anomalous since we didn't see such a huge increase for weeks. Can't go into details for now, I'm not at home.

I had a few medium influence multi-stage missions yesterday which resulted in an 11.5 gain in one system.

Im guessing it may be stuck then, as I only got transfer of another outpost (controlling station) in my main system during the patch release in January and suspect this might be another instance of this.

correction, we got the outpost some hours later

btw. - on the question of surface stations: we didn't get ownership of the surface station on that planet that outpost is orbiting.

still wondering about procedure...

Don't you only get 'the most valuable asset'? So if you're in cw with a minor faction that has 2 assets, you don't get both, just the 'more valuable' one, whatever that means.

It must be random then. I won a cw by 26% and only got one of the two outposts. That or the margin required is > 26%, or there are 57 other variables.

The 2 assets is likely a bug and it appears to be system specific, i.e. conflicts in certain systems will result in the transfer of 2 assets. We first noticed this occur on 23 June 2015.

This has been observed in several systems. Each time a conflict occurs in a system affected by this 2 assets will transfer to the victorious faction.

does cooldown/recovery have to end before the next state starts?

Different states can be queued simultaneously, however the same state can't occur again until the recovery period ends and only 1 state can be active. The recovery period doesn't block other states from occuring.

Cheers, i didnt think it did but was looking for a reason as why my pending expansion hasnt gone through with only recovery boom state the only other state. I was hoping not to have to raise a ticket on this.

It's also worth noting that any conflict state (active, pending or recovery) will block an expansion from entering the pending phase. It's a peculiarity of the BGS but that's how it has always been. It makes state management slightly more complicated! :)

No just pending Expansion and Recovery Boom (2 days including yesterdays lost/minimal tick)

Its been pending over a week, thats why im questioning whats going on
My current working theory (87% confidence rating) is that the expansion pending period does not begin until the blocking economic state has been cleared.

Meaning that once the boom ended, the 5 day pending period for the expansion started. So by the information you provided, your expansion should go active in 3 days.

Ah okay that would explain it. I was previously told that the warm up period ran concurrently with any currently active state, so it would go active immediately
