A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

Well my system's been under a permanent lockdown since November because the faction that took over is supposed to be against slavery, but they're cranking out nothing but slave trade missions, meaning any normal influence changes have been frozen for months now.

Guess it's time to pack my bags, move my ships, and start tearing into the system authority ships and other faction ships till their influence drops like a conda on a 6g planet.

Sorry boys and girls, your leaders have forced my hand. :I

whats the solar systems name if u dont mind sharing and u have left

My observation and i could be wrong is it is applied when states are rechecked and that is on the hour every hour. In the absense of offical information this seems to fit the realtime but with timetick delay

Well, good job with your observation. I can now confirm that the reports indeed get updated every full hour (with a delay of a minute or two maybe). I think this information helps a lot - at least if the reports were not bugged, of course. I'll open a bug report tomorrow for our system, again. Maybe I should change my name, picture and signature first - who knows if they have a black list for people who discover/report too many bugs... ;)

it's the Hel system. I've got most of my ships docked nearby and am using an anarchy moon base in system as a repair/rearm point, but it seems the system authority ships have received a major upgrade, so it's slow going.

I'm expecting Mobius folks to move against Smiling Dog Crew in the background Sim.
I've started a thread to track influence changes. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=234187

The influence data I posted is two days old. Some confirmed Mobius activity in the Wolfberg system already.
Waiting for the Influence tick.

I'm also tracking the obvious other systems to track, so when / if that goes live, we'll all have some data.

I too am curious to see if enough people can get it together to alter the influence in this system. Some people are doing missions, but the some are trying to use BH, which does not seem a good method to me in an anarchy system. Hopefully they can get organised and I can get the popcorn and watch from the sides.

Well our experience would tell us that volume smuggling into a stations black market is the easiest way to tank a minor factions influence.

nope for the love of the tick, the tick is out and missing, Frontier seem to have confirmed in another thread they turn it off on weekends. ETA fix 12 months

Did they explicitly say they switch it off? We have had ticks on sat and Sunday before. But as you say communication on the bgs sometimes isn't what we would wish it to be.

Edit. Its too early, I just reread your post. I need more coffee!

Coffee and communication go hand in hand. I make an assumption that massive server issues today also spreads over to a failed tick, or a manual intervention at work

As we agree the lack of communication leads to assumptions unless offically corrected, because in an infomration vaccum and where long standing issues are left to fester and remain unresolved tensions rise, overtures go ignored and problems build and spiral out of control

Leads to players leaving the game after putting effort in and future sales suffer.

Not tried it but if the controlling faction is Anarchy I would be murdering System Authorities. I presume even though it is lawless that the rep and influence affects still exist for murder, just not the bounty. Its cheaper than finding a run for smuggling that does not lose to much - but yes smuggling would be another tactic.

This is my concern right here, people getting mightly frustrated, rage quitting even when there is no need to.

Just to reiterate my belief - influence is update continuously (ish) and states update periodically (24 hrs (ish)). The influence update we see is just to communicate to us that there has been some movement, but it's just an influence snapshot at that moment.

It doesn't always work sure, but then whoever said war and politics will be conducted in accordance with 'plan A'

Just looking for some assistance....

Following an expansion cycle I have been unable to locate the expansion system within a 30ly radius of the expansion system. A bug report has come back saying I need to widen the search to 50ly...only another 400 systems to check!! However, on the local news in my home system it states that 'War has come to Lockwood Arsenal' which I can only assume is a planetary station in a system somewhere and may well be the expansion system. Lockwood Arsenal does not appear on eddb but Lockwood seems a commonly used name for planetary sites.

Any thoughts??? I am on Xbox so can't scan planets for outposts.

I'd say Lockwood Arsenal is a planetary station in your home system. I can check if you share your system's name. Anyway, I wouldn't trust those local news too much. They are generated bull     most of the time (no offense, FDev).

Hi Captain....according again to eddb there aren't any planetary stations in my home system....but that may not be 100% accurate. Thank you for the offer, the system is Macuayan. If you are going to the system and want to trade you could take palladium, they pay crazy prices at Tartar Dock.

it will be hard to trigger system sec in an anarchy (if the space around a station is anarchy too - it can be done by missions, though). influence hit will be as heavy as shooting any other ships of the ruling faction.

How hard is it to have in the expansion newsletter in the local news window to have a system name inserted to where the faction has expanded to, surely doing this wouldnt add to much load to the servers, Fdev have holes in the game left right and center
