Release EDSM - Elite Dangerous Star Map

When a distance shows wring pleas to not hide it, it leads to much trouble preventing future trilateration trilateration.
Report them to us, I force a recalculate and now all distances are good.
Oh, ok... I did not know this, and have in the past hidden a few such 'wrong' distances. Well, and now that they are hidden, I cannot report which ones

I wonder if there is a plan to show a 3d map of all Systems with Coordinates like the 3d map in EDD on the site sometime in the future? Or would that be to much of a performance issue on the site?

Could be done ;)

hi found a system with a wrong name

http://www.edsm.net/show-system/index/id/25898/name/Wolf+6541

Should be called Wolf 654 another distance was submitted for it via a close system (Hermitage) so I believe the 1 is a error.

Renamed.

Technically one already exists here, but it's not very useful in its current state - no way to search, move around etc (plus the stars are WAY too bright). Also it seems outdated.
But considering this is a site from Anthor's signature, we might see some updates there... Am I right? :)

Found another duplicate - 2MASS J05351404-0525499 - designates two systems 27.77ly apart. Wolfen Grey had added two distances for one of them last July, I then added nine distances for the duplicate system before I realised what was going on, then jumped to the original and added another six distances (all timestamped 26/02/2016, 20:53:03).

It looks like something happened with your nightly dump. My automated pull failed and reported a json error (Syntax Error - Malformed JSON). Checking the URL directly, it looks like the file is incomplete.

Hi, I made a mistake when entering a location: I entered my destination system as my current location, entered 5 distances, realized I made a mistake, entered my current system and distances, then went to my destination and entered distances. I think that made two systems on top of each other, and one system in two places. I tried to use the check suspicious distances thing, but that didn't seem to completely clear up the error.
The two systems are :
Aucoks ly-h c26-12
Aucoks fz-d d13-64

Hide the wrong distances and click the check coordinates button on each system (the blue globe)

Sorry, should be fixed the partition runs out of space! I will check that on Monday to see which files are not supposed to be there.

Not in front of the database but noted, will add the duplicate soon.

@Muthan,

Ask and you shall receive:

http://gerdofal.net/ed/ed3dmap/plotedsm.php

Updated nightly based on the EDSM nightly data dump. (And no, there is no performance issue on the site, I pull the dump as part of my nightly DB update anyway and just saved a copy to a local JSON file to generate the map.)

I'm still tweaking the setup and star sizes. Also, it does take a moment to load. That's a lot of points, and your browser needs to think about their placement a little.

Hi Anthor,

during the last few days I experienced some outages when trying the access edsm.net, either through EDDiscovery or via the web interface. Is the server overloaded, and is there any way we can help, like trying to upload our data at specific low traffic times only, or not using specific compute intensive parts of the web interface, or donating computer parts :) ?
Btw: love what you all are doing for the community!

I've seen nothing strange, made some modifications, but hopefully all bugs were removed.

Do you have a specific page going nuts?

No, it was a general outage each time. That means: EDDiscovery could not upload/download/trilaterate from edsm.net, and edsm.net was inaccessible via my browser at the same time. After a few minutes, all was ok again. And no, my internet connection was not at fault, ED worked quite well during this time :).
So you say that you can't see these 'outages' in the server log? The last one was around 10.15 pm UTC last night (Feb 29).

I will look at that date, there is a lot of logs to just look at them :)
