Thanks Ben, I will give it a go. I feel like a bit of a prat asking said question, but I am the person whose game has never ever shown me an 'empty icon' for a player controlled ship, even when I have been in a wing. I think there is just a part of this great game that doesn't like me![]()
You do know the paladium has to be mined in your ship to count for the CG?anyone know pristine metallic haz REZ within 100LY from Varati ?
The word under your name says "Competent"
Step up man!
Tee hee! Some of us will be going mining for the CG, you should tag along, it'll add to the chaos!
Check out this thread - https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteCG/comments/49u78y/canonn_launches_outpost_campaign/ - it quotes a couple of systems within 30ly or so. I'm currently mining at one of them - COL 285 SECTOR IJ-E B13-1, 4th planet. It's very rich in Palladium. Take a D-scanner though, because unless you've already scanned that system it the planet won't show up.anyone know pristine metallic haz REZ within 100LY from Varati ?
or this http://edtools.ddns.net/index.php?s=varati covers 100% of available systems or there could be missing some ?
Why in the nine hells would bought palladium not count? It's the same frakkin' thing! It's not like I'm going to keep the price sticker on the stuph, lol
Because mining takes 10x longer than trading, which would mean as far as a CG goes it would be dominated by traders not miners at the highest ranks.
A more interesting question would be why didn't they set it to osmium/platinum/painite, but maybe they wanted the most common regular metal.
Do you think this is a bug or by design? Can someone second that bought does not count?

+1 virtual rep CMDR DERATH, until I can hand out rep againBecause mining takes 10x longer than trading, which would mean as far as a CG goes it would be dominated by traders not miners at the highest ranks.

+1 virtual rep CMDR EDITH_THE_HUTT, until I can hand out rep againA neater solution would be to set the buy price for palladium to be lower than the market rate so anyone trying to trade it for the CG makes a loss. However, I suspect simply not counting palladium sends a clearer message to avoid people thinking that it's a badly set up Trade CG
On post #1 of this page look at the screenshot (or if you are signed up look at the mission in your transaction panel)...I can also confirm. Bought Palladium does NOT count.
and I have to add that the mission description is a huge letdown on this.. because in my language the mission description says: "deliver Palladium to Thompson Dock" - there not even a single word of mention that "bough palladium" would not count instead of "mined palladium".
And while Im at it.. the palladium that is up for sale, would have quite logically been mined by someone else - so wheres the difference.
Ah yes I see.. the difference is: giving me a mission description that tells me "to deliver stuff" - make me travel 300 LY across the bubble - just to have the game laugh at me and giving me the middle finger as result.
I would at lease expect the mission descriptions to be PRECISE. Even if they have been translated into another language.

In the CG mission called "CANONN OUTPOST CAMPAIGN"
under Resource Drive
"Earn rewards by delivering mined Palladium to Thompson Dock in the Verati system"
so it does say mined Palladium
Great guide, thank you! This is my first mining CG. Very excited. Also love the cannon storyline. Bought my first python and fitted it for mining. I started last night and was interdicted by a player pirate in Varati. In previous trading CGs, I figured giving some cargo to a player pirate was a cost of doing biz if it didnt get out of hand. But mining, oh this is different because you just spent an hour, hour and 30 minutes, whatever, of real time mining that ore.
So, I ran. First time I ever tried fleeing a player. I low waked, and it worked, this time. Player had a Viper. I made it to the station. Maybe I could have even beaten him, dont know. But now Im fearful. What do I do tonight? Do you miners play in solo/group or do you risk the open. I acknowledge while fleeing my heart was pounding like few video games can get me to do. But had I lost that ship and the cargo, that would have sucked. Im just curious how you miners are playing?
I completely agree with youThe problem is that if you don't view this thread (or it hasn't yet been updated) and you're on your way to the CG location you don't know that. The main text, that's also copy-pasted to the game launcher and Galnet, should be explicit.
Fly in a wing. Mine in a group. The payout is much much higher and so is the protection
"Earn rewards by delivering mined Palladium to Thompson Dock in the Verati system"
so it does say mined Palladium
[big grin] I wish I could rep you again already. Made my day.No tons ahhaahaa
Another no tons ahhaahaa
More no tons ahhaahaa

Yes, maybe it does say that in the ENGLISH version of the game. But i already mentioned "lannguage" or "translation" twice in my first post.
I really dont care wether the english version of the message is precise as long as the localized language version of the same mission text JUST OMITS THIS IMPORTANT DETAIL. The localized version to MY native language just says: "deliver palladium to Varati" - not a mention of the word "mined". This is what i call sloppy translation.
What use is a localized version of the game in ones native language if the translations omit important details? I could have done the translation myself - with better quality. IF I had access to the original wording of the mission text.
One thing to be aware of:
Please do not kill wanted ships from Canonn while bounty hunting in Varati. It will lower Canonn's influence in the system. Only hunt wanted ships from other factions.
