the station bandit last night

As far as I am aware there isn't any restriction on shooting at people in space stations.. As it stands there is little deterrent and with all due respect I am getting a little tired of seeing posts where people come on and complain about the actions of others in game.

If someone beats you up, I suggest you tool up and take some revenge. Personally, I find overcoming such difficulties has only raised my game and pushed me to a better understanding the game dynamics.

Unless someone is on my KOS list I wouldn't typically start blowing away ships just zoning in at the station or spawn points, but thats just me.

Its only Alpha, all progress is likely to be wiped very soon anyway. I just don't see the point in letting it get to you.

Illegitimi non carborundum. ;)

That all said I really do hope the OPs wife gets better :)

I agree completely. There's lots of posts, sometimes by the same people over and over again, calling others rude because of perfectly legit behaviour in the alpha game. And now they are even insulting them (sorry I won't quote/repeat), being even more anti social than the "accusees". Also they are they are the only ones actually using "leetspeek", also something they detest in others and blame the "others" of. Pot=kettle??

Why so sour and frustrated? It's a game with balancing mechanics and consequences. You can even go solo offline in the final game and now (I'm premium beta I do it all the time :)) if you want. Let's keep the good athmosphere on the forum and don't let it deteriorate.

You've completely lost me bro :S

Sorry. Your quote amused me, it's dog Latin and that's the vaguely literal translation. I was channelling Monty Python "People called Romanes they go, the house?" etc etc.

One of the things I hope to find in ED is a way to play with others, collectively, without having to worry about non-consensual PVP (which is often, basically, griefing). I'm pretty confident that I'll find other players looking for this too.

I hope FD will give us the means to do just that. I don't want to "man up", to "tool up", to "learn how to play the game" so I can deal with griefers, I just want to explore the galaxy doing my stuff with other nice players.

I don't mind PVPers, a lot of them are nice people, excellent at what they do, and I definitely hope they will find what they seek in ED, since the more players we have, the healthier the game will be. But I don't want to PVP if I don't feel like to.

One game mechanic that would be interesting to try and test in the Alpha would be a player, or community placed bounty. I'm not sure if such a mechanism will work in the game or not, it has been raised, and is being considered.

All that would really be needed would be a bulletin board to see the wanted lists, and a way to pay the bounty. That could be done with a thread/s and rep on the forum....

It would give those seeking PvP some targets, and expose some of the problems....
It may give those that are bored an objective other than random griefing.....
Players could put a bounty on themselves to encourage others to PVP with them, an advertised list of PVP players almost....
I appreciate the idea needs refining and some structure, but might be a detterant to this sort of thing...?

Firsty I would like to wish Noctivagus's wife a speedy recovery as I'm sure all do.

Sorry to hear this is becoming an issue already , I can see both sides somewhat , but what does 3 against an unprepared 1 test? .

I am aware that comms are not yet implemented in game so organising a good scrap is problematic ,but others have organised things on forum and off .

If as you say Paulo_b27 your after more of a challenge organise a free for all amongst like minded players ,you'll achieve more in testing and be challenged without causing offence :)

(I am not having a pop as you've been very honest on the forum about your actions)

Maybe someone should start a nightly or Knightly scrap thread on the Alpha forum ,it won't stop it but it would give people a challenge .

Good luck to all and see you when Beta+ lands

I'm your wing man any time :)

I actually like what han solo was doing .. the 1st endless war battles was great fun..

The station hijack would of been good if they followed the same public notice as they did with the battles ... i would of been quite happy to be blasted for testing

But hehoo. Crap happens
The Endless War battles were organized by me, not Gen Han Solo. But he, and Cmd Kroy did make histheir TS facility available for those events.

Sorry about your wife though I have to say I don't see a problem here since it's alpha. It's tech testing, combat gameplay testing, docking systems testing. The credits you earn, the ships you buy and the time you spend upgrading them means nothing at this phase since your progression is temporary.

The public release will have station defences that activate when someone discharges a weapon near a station, just like previous incarnations.

Oh boy!

So why keep testing it?

OP was trying to do something for the good of the game, a test at the request of the developers.

But it's more important for you to feel good about shooting up and killing a peaceful PC. Well done. I hope you are very proud of yourself. Yeah, high-five. Take out the n00b with his weapons not deployed. Yeah, big man. Hero in fact. I am in awe of your l33t skillz.

Are you going to be okay mate? Do you want some tissues to dry your eyes?

Hilarious! Honestly your post is making me chuckle.

This is a sand box game. You can do what you like. There will be pirates. People have weapons on their ship. Things won't always go our way, and I have been on the receiving end of it too, and yes, is v. annoying.

Do you know what we need to do to deal with it though? Man up.

Now, let's all hug it out and recognise we are all on the same team (truthfully, we all want an amazing and balanced game)

:)

Griefers will still be griefers in the full game, they'll just find another excuse to justify their behavior.

Hopefully when the full game launches it's large enough that meeting griefing neanderthals will be a rare occurence.

Thank You Rover. Thank You.

The response is like I'm a real criminal, not a virtual one, for playing the game a different, and wholly legitimate way.

I think it's funny.

I think you're going to be disappointed mate.

There will be plenty of ignored/IP blocked griefers out there I am sure, left to forever play only with other griefers and cheats.

Delicious :)

Not crying here. As I mentioned elsewhere I let unprompted aggressors just kill me. Shut down hardpoints, come to a standstill and everything to make it nice and easy. Not yet had time to turn my shields off. Eviscerate away. I care not; it's an alpha after all, I am sure they are testing something. That's my way of manning up - letting the other person feel good about about themselves.

I admire your "Yep I gank n00bs" honesty here, so in the interests of balance my in game name is the same as my forum name. Seek me out if you wish. I won't retaliate. Enjoy. It's my gift to you. At least I won't die needing help to know if I am going forwards or backwards.

Getting shot up is part of the whole thing, but there has to be some thought, no matter how hard it may be to do that, on the part of the aggressor. In this case it wasn't even approaching helpful, the OP was trying to improve the game by performing a test, but persons unknown prevented that, so the game may now be a little bit worse for the sake of a quick laugh on their side, which won't help make an amazing and balanced game.

Yes Man up!... (as long as you're on the right side of a 3 v 1 gank, yes?) ;)

I haven't come across 3 on 1, so that is unusual and unfortunate, but I am capable of responding and protecting myself in game.

Yes!?!

Can I also confirm that I was not one of the three last night so people need to relax a little.

Can you? :)

Guys this is all valid behaviour during the testing process ,that fact that it gets people so worked up is also understandable .

Have FD given all Alphas a specific list of what to test? ,if not then anything goes to a large extent .

If for example FD asked people to test griefing no one would have a problem,
but as your I believe testing all elements included currently then as Paulo has said anything is allowed .

Dry your eye mate.

You seem quite emotional about this. I was having a laugh at how seriously people take their internet persona and how 'hard' they like to portray themselves as in a video game. Its been amusing me since my ultima online days :D

I actually think ganking has its place in a multiplayer game because I'd hate ED to become so sanitized that the sense of apprehension every time I leave a safe area is no longer there. Had that in UO with the introduction of Trammel, and it ruined that game to be honest, I really don't want ED to follow suit and become some fluffy playpen.

If I had my way I'd ditch the grouping systems and ignore lists in a heartbeat. The galaxy should have been a big enough playground on its own to never need such extra safety nets!
