Grieving Exploration Players?

Having spoken to the self appointed queen of Sag A, I don't think she's a griefer at all. I think the overreaction to her has nothing to do with other, actual cases of people in war-ready ships killing explorers for no reason.

if only we had a way to overload our FSD and take them out at the same time, with no chance to run :)

They may think twice

Have you ever been proud of a first discovery tag? Similar idea

Not to me it isn't. I have scrawled my name on some systems and thats nice but I don't feel any ownership of them. Still, people are different.

All earth likes discovered in Distant Worlds are mine.........no, scrap that, not aiming high enough......all earth likes in the galaxy are mine.

I donate to you, all my ELW thus far discovered. I'll keep the discovery of them if that's OK but please feel free to do with them what you will.

Nice! And I have a decent suggestion that makes use of existing mechanics:

Turn the power plant into an EMP bomb that knocks out the electricity on both ships forcing an automatic computer system reboot on both ships. Systems with more power requirements take a little longer to reboot. This would allow exploration ships, which usually have smaller power needs, a chance to escape. This could be balanced with a short range 1.25 Km effective EMP blast radius. So a skilled pirate could escape an EMP by running away, or by sniping. Either way, this gives the weaker ship a better chance to escape even with slow engines.

EMP is an electromagnetic pulse. It's like a nuclear bomb, but one that is controlled within the reactor so it that won't necessarily damage human tissue or the ship itself, but can still overload electrical devices causing them to short. It might damage your power plant however ;)

ISTR some discussion about a mine/bomb that was in the original Elite (and maybe also in the early versions of ED).
According to my failing memory, the problem was what would happen if someone triggered that beast in/near a busy station - think nuclear suicide bomber.
I'd prefer Ziljan's EMP - although pirates would probably be fast to adapt. I'm afraid my combat equipped Vulture (or a tooled up exploration Vulture) would recover far faster than an exploration 'conda under those rules.
