I do hope Season 2 helps Piracy - Today's experience just confirms to me it doesn't work very well...

Can we have a talk about we had a Dev in here whom only bothered talking about some Skype thing? I think I've yet to see a thread about legitemet piracy getting discussed by a Dev at all. This is the closest I've seen but if somebody would mind linking me to a thread where a dev does discuss the concerns of a pirate or other people who have a problem with how piracy is in the game that would be nice.

Maybe the people who's just cause it was to get Combatlogging into the EULA should take up the cause and report him?

Any takers?

I'm pretty sure there's a bit in the forum rules about discussing exploits not being allowed and per FD themselves, combat logging IS an exploit, so why is that upon us when mods have clearly read the post? They don't have to report him to FD for doing it perhaps, although I would think they'd do that to ANYONE who openly claims to have broken the rules ingame on the forums, but they should have removed the post at least.

I didn't have anything to do with getting combat logging into the EULA, that was in place before I ever got the game and has been an official rule per FD for a while now, I was directly asking why a post discussing an exploit per FD was allowed to remain.

They seem to be reluctant or scared to give piracy any form of official endorsement; no dedicated in-game functionality, very minimal mentions of it (if any) in update plans, no 'educating-ed' piracy streams.

FD treat it like a grey area that they won't condemn, but won't support either - which is odd considering it's always been a core feature of Elite. The problem is that neglecting it only steers certain people towards player-killing.

Because being a nice guy gets you in trouble as often as it gets you out of it. :p

There, un-ignored him, found and quoted the section of the Forum Rules he violated and reported the initial post.
Let's see what happens.

OP can just delete his account and get a new copy, since he knows he violated the EULA. ;p
That was 2 days ago.
Is he still playing? Why?

Oh yep.. I have a video of a guy logging on me I messaged him saying that it's cheating and whatnot he then admits to logging a bit later and yet I have a feeling nothing will be done. I swear it will sooner later break me and I will go to Eravate venting onto the Sideys.

I would point out it that combat logging is against the rules and that Zac Antonaci stated as such replete with threats of shadow bans a few weeks prior on lave radio. So there is no need for an agenda to incorporate it into the EULA. But as you've made it clear you block anyone who doesn't agree with your viewpoints to turn this forum into a giant echo chamber for yourself, I'm not going to bother.

They put it in to make us shutup about it, I don't think they've banned a single person for it

(which is why I wouldn't bother commenting that the OP talks about doing it, there have been much worse cases than this lol)

Stop pointing out obvious problems that get ignored by the "Help"? Yea, stop now or yee shall incur admin retribution, while obvious problem again goes unaddressed.

***CORRECTION*** Not Staff, the Help.

Then keep to those forum rules whilst having your discussion.

Now, please stay on topic, I am not about to argue about this.

Robert, if you are Open, you HAVE agreed to be other people's content, you can think whatever you want but that fact doesn't change, that is the nature of Open. Don't want to be someone else's content, Solo exists for that very reason. So that's a really bad excuse, no two ways about it.

Which post were you replying to?

Even if piracy were to be significantly enhanced, Frontier cannot force players to want to play the role of prey for the pirates who preferentially select players as prey (rather than NPCs).

This post by you specifically, and others where people stated that they don't want to be someone else's content. If you are in Open, you are someone else's content, don't want to be that, stay out of Open, that's why Solo exists. It doesn't get more basic than that, Open is where everyone is everyone else's content, social interactions are allowed without restriction, and piracy is a player profession that FD has promoted as such, along with bounty hunting, and both are talked about in context with attacking other players, not just NPCs.

So, you don't want to deal with being anyone else's content, stay out of Open.

I think there should be quick response hot keys for things like submission. Taunt. Aggressive. Sorry. Pirate request cargo etc. I was looking for this last night in the options for similar reasons.

When I realised it's a human I was like a deer in headlights. He demanded cargo because I was in a t6. But I had none because I was moving home Base. He didn't even scan me to see. 5 seconds later I was fired upon and destroyed. My comment was "well that escalated quickly......."

Any 'pirate' without a cargo scanner is just looking to kill people, that's it. I always had a cargo scanner when I was pirating, as it's pointless to demand something from a ship that has nothing and it's rather silly to let a ship full of painite get away without giving me anything just because he said he was running empty...

Not only that but if you play with friends in Mobius you are still their content and they are yours.

That's not true. For a while I used a wake scanner instead of a cargo scanner now I use neither. I doubt people trading in a well known trade route or CG is going to be trading anything but what is expected.

And hatch breakers can do the job of figuring out if the target is empty or not. The computer even says it.

I play in Open rather a lot - maybe you have confused my posts regarding player freedom with something else.... I recognise that player choice is an important aspect of the game design that Frontier has delivered.

I'm a quite new player so I can't speak to his intentions. Maybe he had a scanner and didn't use it because he was afraid of me logging. I'm not defending his actions but giving him the benefit of a doubt. But I'm sure he could tell I'm a noob.

But that's what makes open more fun. And costly :)

But I keep thinking what if I replied and quickly. Would it have been different. Thus my comment about having a hot key and menu for quick response.

If all players were atleast half confident at PVP, they could raise the difficulty of the NPC's without an issue.

If all players were half competent at pve they could increase npc difficulty. I very much doubt that any players who struggle against npcs would fix that issue by struggling at pvp too.
