Title: Buckyball Racing Club to provide tyre track research data

The latest event from the Buckyball Racing club, a hybrid ship/buggy race entitled "Total Recall", is being funded by a major manufacturer of SRV tyres in exchange for data concerning the handling of these vehicles when driven at speed across a variety of different planet surfaces.

Following observations that their current range of tyres appear not to leave any tracks, a spokesman for the company in question stated "we've been investigating this anomaly for some time and, with the help of the data being provided by the BRC, have started developing our next generation of high performance TrakMark tyres which should be rolling off the production lines soon".

Commanders wishing to take part in the event, which runs out of Schneider Relay in Epsilon Indi from the 2nd to the 10th of April, can find the registration page in the forums by searching for Buckyball Total Recall.

Title: FREELANCE REPORT: DIPLOMATIC SUMMIT A MAHON SMOKE SCREEN?

A recent summit held by the Alliance of Independent Systems is nothing but a screen for Edmund Mahon says an unidentified commander in the Wadir sector. "Right - Mahon is bloody brilliant really. He holds the largest amount of political power in the galaxy, and somehow remains off the radar screens of everyone else. How? Because of ideas like this summit, that’s how. He gets other groups to do his dirty work, claiming ignorance and innocence. And his rivals buy it! Makes these small groups think he is the only way to remain independent, at the cost of that same independence! I wish I had thought of it first."

As readers can see, there has been growing puzzlement as to why the biggest political player in the galaxy remains largely unopposed. In the mind of at least one, it is due to some brilliant behind the scenes efforts from Edmund Mahon.

Title: Workers of Mingh Green Party Assume Control of Mining Camp

Body: After several days of intense fighting, the Federation aligned Workers of Mingh Green Party has officially annexed the Zalyotin Mining Station in Mingh. The conflict stemmed from the crackdown of a strike at the Zalyotin Station, eventually leading to open warfare between the Federation Navy and private military contractors hired by the Mingh Vision Network.

A Green Party spokesman explained that mining operations would return to normal with the workers now in control but anticipated the new relationship with Furukawa Enterprise may accelerate the system’s terraforming project.

I assume ‘Total Recall’ is an SRV-racing event? Because by focusing mostly on the ‘tyre recall’ conceit, I think the nature of the event isn’t perhaps as clear as it might have been. My advice would be to revise the opening so readers who are unfamiliar with the BRC will know what the event is about. If I’m wrong, and the event isn’t an SRV race, then do of course ignore this advice!

Thanks Ian, I've tweaked the wording in my original post slightly, is it clearer now?

TITLE: Frustrated Starport Officials Lambaste Ishmael Palin

DESCRIPTION:
Critics from starports affected by the ‘techno-plague’ have joined together to challenge Professor Ishmael Palin’s priorities.

Jon Quayle, a senior engineer at Gaiman Dock in 49 Arietis, queried, “What does Palin think is going to happen when these new-fangled modules that can carry these ‘unknown artefacts’ with impunity become available? I’ll tell you what will happen. Every Tom, and Harry will bring in more artefacts, and unsuspecting engineers everywhere will have their hands full just trying to keep stations in orbit.”

Owen Obendorf, Starport Services Director at Hinz Hub in Ngobe, accused, “In my book, Palin is culpable for the plague’s spread, and these modules will compound the problem. When half of humanity’s starports are on the fritz, he’ll swoop in with the ‘miracle cure’ and we’ll pay through the nose for it. Palin is putting the cart before the horse intentionally so he can make some serious credits.”

Title: Humanity's Dream

Description:

In ancient Earth history 1341 years ago on this date, Humanity finally achieved the dream of generations. For the first time, development of advanced rocket technology propelled a human being beyond the boundaries of the homeworld and into space.

To commemorate Yuri Gagarin’s historic flight, pilots gather every year at M. Gorbachev from 1800 UST onwards to swap first-flight stories and buy rounds at the infamous Tereshkova’s Hangout bar. Station manager Shiranya Nilon stated:

“For some it’s quite a pilgrimage. We’ve had pilots come from Sothis, Quince, Fehu, and Canopus in previous years. People want to come and see the cradle of Humanity and remember the moment when the dream of touching the stars was realised. It’s a time for looking back, and for looking forward: we spent many millennia dreaming that dream, and it’s been just over a thousand years since we achieved it. M. Gorbachev is looking forwards to hosting distant visitors again this year, and we hope all pilots will fly safe.”

Title: Busy Times for Starship Enterprises.

Body:

These last couple of weeks have seen plenty of activity from the pilots of Starship Enterprises.
A heavily armed convoy was dispatched to help contain the deadly Cerberus plague in Nespeleve, hauling a load of over 250 Heike tea, fifty jumps so that those afflicted could get a nice hot cuppa.
Dr. Lewis Chapman also expressed a special interest in the terraforming project in Vennik and was quoted saying:

"Terraforming is an important part of colonization, and SE recognizes the galactic communities desire to expand its boarders. As such, Starship Enterprises is keenly interested in terraforming techniques and any projects of this nature."

The SE Logistics department was assigned to Vennik this past week to help in the final stages of the terraforming project.
Closer to home, SE has been working with Blue creative to open a number of key trade routes from Gel-Mann ring, helping to bring important metals into the system for processing. The outer system planets however continue to suffer from a rise in illegal activities and of pirate attacks.
