Project cars

Apologies for posting here, have tried searching google with no luck. I purchased and setup Project cars last night, was running perfectly in VR except my force feedback.

Finally got my wheel setup but Project cars now won't load, I click on the icon in Oculus home, the mirror window starts and it looks like it's loading, then it closes with no error msg and I'm back to the original oculus home screen :/

Any ideas? It had been running fine all day. Done usual things, reboot etc. ED and other apps run fine.

Cheers

Ill duck off this forum now ;)

/puts away the +2 Hammer of Off-topic, and goes back to polishing his Boots of Irrelevance. ;)

Hi

actually i think it may be an idea to sticky 2 posts at the top of the vr forum

1 for VR games bargains and another for general vr chit chat about other games.
I know there is an ot forum but, as vr is so niche maybe you could allow 2 ot megathreads at the top of this forum?

just a thought.

I had P-Cars From O-Home,but asked for a refund. There are 0 (ZERO) Sessions Online. but game was working, but in that time I was using the J-pad
I bought it from steam and everything works perfectly!! And a lot of sessions online.
I play it with a Fanatec 911 turbo s wheel and everything works fine, until you don't go on the Dubai Circuit, The feedback goes like crazy, vibrating on the straights.
Looks like P-Cars is not very polished game, there are bugs around.

does the game start with no wheel?
Try to see if your wheel is updated in the firmware.

Since we are off topic, any one tried DCS in virtual reality? In particular looking for opinions on the A10 to go with my warthog. Just invested in new computer (15k fire strike score) and I have a coupon for DCS. But sort of hard to find info on DCS

Loads of info around. Lots of videos on youtube and of course a DCS forum. It's a must have for VR nuts.

The issue was due to a compatibility bug with my Thrustmaster FFB wheel, devs were very helpful.

@dutchy2000 - Definitely get DCS, you won't regret it.

I second this idea. I was going to post that idea myself, but I'm glad I got someone to point to if the idea isn't received well.

I got the free version to test it, its amazing, however the menus are crappy in VR, I would have to disable VR, configure the joystick (need to find warthog profile i think) and then enable VR again. But the instant action and tutorial was sweetness

So you can't use it or you have to find some other way?

I can use it as long as I have an older version of the thrustmaster software installed. Devs said they will resolve the issue with an update.

Not happy with the force feedback config, quite a lot of complaints about it online.

On Youtube look for "Inside Sim Racing" they give some tips for setting the FFB and other ingame stuff.
I realized that my vibration issue is because of the deadzone in the center, I have it set to Zero. If I increase to 1% the vibration was going away, but to much center play.

So, is there a cheaper option to get this working for VR than through Oculus Home, or not - I can't quite figure it out? I'd quite like to give it a try but it's roughly twice what I'd want to pay for a driving game (not my genre.)

The Steam version works fine on Oculus Home. I paid £18 for my copy with a discount key.

Thanks Mike, Project Cars bought and installed for £10.79 - bit of a bargain over the $49.99 on Oculus Home. I'm running it through Steam so not sure if the performance will be as good (would this still be using timewarp, for example) but I didn't notice any issues during the brief play I had - apart from me being completely useless at the game. ;)

My rift is due to arrive tomorrow. I had a dabble on monitor today but finding the gokarts a bit of a chore, getting motion sick on my monitor. Not sure if will be better or worse I vr.

Afaik all versions use the rift skd so you will get the same experience on steam as on oculus store

Whilst there are a few games which test me in vr motion sickness is not something I am used to on a screen
