Pirates at Maia

i consider commanders the same way i see people in fallout 4

no one is friendly.
everyone wants to kill you.
if they arnt shouting for you to help them they are hostile.

Thank you to the complete muppet who just destroyed me for no reason, I've just lost months and months of exploration data. NOT a happy bunny :(

Yes, I know that's the game, but they didn't even try to interdict me, just fired on me as I was making steady progress, making sure the entrance was clear.

here are my few tips:

a) don't min-max...get a decent shield next time and some shield boosters/chaff/whatever....sure it will shorten a bit your jump range, but you will be able to defend better yourself next time.
b) don't fight the interdiction, submit! By submitting you don't have a big cooldown for you FSD.
c) don't try to jump to Supercruise, lock in another system. Thus you won't have a mass-lock factor screwing you.
d) worst case option that should be avoided by BRAVE bad-butt commanders: once you get in the bubble go to solo or private group.

I have a person in my group that experienced what you had...very unpleasant indeed. Well he got though a smile in his face since we hunted that guy down and killed him at least 5-6 times after that, to take our sweet revenge (ofc that was no griefing, he was an underminer of our control minor faction system, a criminal, a scum of the galaxy with a wanted status)

:)

here is my retribution to commander Cadenza!!! My first kill on his name!

Pirates don't blow up explorers. We scan you, see you have no cargo and wish you a good day.

well due to FD's non-consideration of CODE requests, there are not a lot of real pirates at the moment... I know you are one of the few...I hardly see ppl with cargo scanner anymore...

I wish FD had listened to the requests of CODE, there have been repeated requests about fixing piracy and making it more lucrative because it never was....if FD had listened back then:

then there would be still legitimate pirates, with cargo scanners, asking for cargo....

SDC wouldn't probably exist.... or at least not in the form it exists today.

well, not hearing to the right ppl of the community has it's negative outcomes ;)

I'm glad I started pirating back in the heyday over a year ago in a pitiful viper--back when sweet rares flowed through Altair, platinum milk poured into Gliese 868 and the chains of human bondage rattled Gilgamesh. :)

But you're right, Frontier never listened about piracy. They just ignored us. :( There's a lot they could do to spruce things up--I'd rather see the season pass this year go to profound fundamental and background changes that benefit the experience than silly stuff like... two people in one ship.

Well one solution that could make kind of sense (in terms of logic) is that the black market prices could be like x2 or smthg compared to selling the stuff to the commodities market....at least for some rares or stuff that you can't "easily" find/steal...but I guess that would create some more exploits in the game.

It's a hard issue to be tackled....I don't have any clue how it could be fixed without creating more exploits or smthg.

wait epiphany:

new special mission present in any system. GO PIRATE!!!!!!!

mission type: piracy
description..it tells you to go steal resources from a nearby system.
profit: 2x their commodities selling value.
lasts 24hrs but will respawn itself once the old mission ends.

Or even better: some system need some rare cargo and it's generating missions for traders. At same time some anarchy system is generating missions to pirate those traders.

They buffed pve piracy and nerfed open piracy.

There is piracy missions, they pay the same as any other mission otherwise it wouldn't be balanced.

I do pve piracy to fill my time.
With 200t cargo hold you can make 10-20 million at a black market.

Wait, how are they pirates if they decided to shoot you for no reason?
Wow man it seems like they are stereotyping your kind now days. "We would rather he died than turn our months worth of exploration data to those bloody pirates" this thread just made my day.

All this talk and complaining about Gankers and Griefers in Merope and Maia, yet let's face it we are smashing up the only aliens we have found so far and robbing them on an industrial scale.

They aren't even safe in Solo or Private groups and we know what the community thinks about that.

I admit, I did it once too and also came up against the Interstellar Baster** which at the time I felt was unjustified but when you look at it from the other angle you realize they might actually be the good guys here.

Barnacles (might) have feelings too you know!

Open PVP? As apposed to closed PVP, or? Sweeping accusations and assumptions - they explain everything, kids.

Open PvP as opposed to PvP in specific areas that you go to PvP in, or PvP regulated by a flag. Any area where it's possible to do PvP in is 'fair game to kill anyone' territory according to people like the ones I was responding to.

Completely unrelated to that (but not to the thread in general)... why *is* Maia an anarchy, anyway? I thought it was supposed to be a scientific outpost.

good idea...let me say something else though. I suggest that every commander in PP should have auto-enabled the PVP option. It's simple the reason why...why?

because when I used to go to another PP system, I would have on my hood a huge ENEMY when I would see on supercruise other commanders....the NPC spamming interdictions is ok, but I can't interdict any other commander with the huge ENEMY tag, because he is a player?

that doesn't make sense....

"oh sorry enemy for interdicting you, I just noticed you are a player, have a nice day, bye"? isn't that ?

In general PP as mentioned should come with greater benefits but also with greater risks. THat's my personal opinion though,

and hey I think we get a little bit off-topic :)

The actual ones at fault here are FD.

First, piracy has no consequences for the pirate, which is insane.

Second, there should be a way for exploration data to be regained after game "death". Perhaps an emergency ejection data module that can be found again in the spot you "died"?

It is idiotic that the least paying option in the game can let you lose the most insane game time needs rewards in seconds.

Elite Dangerous is a lot like life
1)- You learn from your experiences. Don't explore in open, do you really expect to meet someone 20,000yr from sol.
2)- It is full of *les

*murder, *murderer

If they don't scan, disable, hatch-break or issue demands - then they are not pirates.

Hi, I just entered Obsidian Orbital and was almost killed while docking. I had not played elite for some time and was not aware of this blockade thing... cool (especially since I survived)!

I don't get it though... shouldn't the station defense blow up these guys?

No as a result of another community goal here an unlawful goverment took over. Kinda cool aswell since a CG actually had proper consequences for once. Maia is controlled by some pirates or what have you that took advantage of all the illegal goods smuggeled in to and from Maia and they don't care about anyone but their own people. Be happy you don't see a station in SC pirating people. :p

Same here, a commander on a Imperial Cutter attacked me without saying a word (I'm in an full-explorer ASP). Simple entertaiments for simple minds, I guess.

(Not I cry post, I really don't care about them at all, just giving my support to all explorers killed like this)
