SDC gets death threats, getting called PoS's, no lifes, worthless, sorry asses, children, degenerates, socio / psycopaths.

Where's our empathy? :S

<cough> it's only space-pixels, right? At least that is the argument that your group itself proposed :D

Don't like it? Get good or go home :D

Oh - and if anyone has seriously offered you a death-threat - report it!!!.

There is no room in gaming for such things. That sort of thing can not ever be tolerated.

Haha i see what you did there! i dont care much for empathy though, never expected it, it was just a joke, see you tomorrow, goodnight

Fixed that for you!

No, you didn't. You altered my quote to suit your deciept.

As you already know you get these reactions as a direct and expectable result of your actions, and in fact they are the very reactions you seek. When you are the victim of a tragedy beyond your control you'll get empathy. While you continue to torment others for your own pleasure you'll continue to reap disgust. Want empathy? Earn it. Right now you're getting exactly what you deserve in my opinion.

Excellent turned into an argument with sides - time to post - see if I can combine being on topic with abuse!

When reading the article - the bit that stood out most to me was the quote from Harry Potter saying he would quit if anyone from SDC was banned. I immediately thought - how can I get someone from SDC banned? I cannot be only one!

Well event on this weekend - pople's goal should not be to kill Harry Potter but to entrap an SDC member into breaking the EULA so Harry Potter can carry out his threat, hopefully followed by the rest of SDC and open can be a better place.

Emergent enough game play for people?

Simon

wise words, i used to think i could stand out as an individual and people wouldnt judge people based on groups, but in reality people do that, it sucks people seeing people say all muslims are terrorists. And i tried to make a case where i am SDC but i dont gank noobs or invade private groups but people still judge the whole picture, it's just easier that way.

.
Whoah.
1) real life death threats are not on if true...

2)But comparing SDC a group who openly claim to be in game terrorists...... To islam?
The difference is islam is a group of people 99.9 % of who aim to lead good lives. I do not personally agree with their philosophies but they do not go out of their way to be prats even if some think they come off that way.

Extremists are the exception not the norm!.

SDC on the other hand on the whole make it their goal to inflict misery on others and if you associate with them it is reasonable to expect to carry their stink.

Not even close in mine, but give it time.......

One can only wish it were true. They never do leave though, do they? Are they really worth spending your game time on? They've had their moment. Just let 'em fade into obscurity.

I'll admit to similar thoughts and I'm remarkably calm about thier threat to leave, and unconvinced that it would have a negative effect on the game. To me the threat translates as "If you ban any of my friends I'll do exactly what you want me to do and the game will be better for it." Not something to be too concerned about.

There'll always be PvP and people who want to engage in it (which is fine) but a few less organised griefers because FDev finally grew some cahones and took a position can only be a good thing. I strongly doubt they'd be good for their word though, they don't strike me as morally upright, reliable folk, and if they had anywhere better to be they'd be there already. No, I'm afraid we're stuck with them, at least till star citizen or no man's sky or some other oppourtunity to torment noobz presents.

Did you not read her post? "And I tried to make a case where I am SDC but I don't gank noobs or invade private groups but people still judge the whole picture, it's just easier that way."
Your response, ignorant as it was, kind of proved her point.

Right now you're getting exactly what you deserve in my opinion.

Death threats due to actions in a make-believe spaceship game are "deserved"? I've been on the receiving end of several of these and it simply has no place in a video game's community. Or any community for that matter.

It's kinda of odd that point was missing from the article I mean I think it's an important one.

A large organised group removed a PvP player group from a system while essentially being invulnerable. With the target player group being totally unable to defend themselves using their preferred play style.

It's kinda stupid when you think about it, and to me seems like the bigger "abuse" than dropping into Mobius to shoot players, something which Mobius ultimately has the power to prevent.

The PVP folks are frequently heard saying "If you don't want your ship to get destroyed, get better <at PVP>". The PVE folks respond in kind by saying "If you don't want your player faction to get destroyed, get better <at PVE>".
.
Wolfberg wasn't stolen, it was abandoned. We merely took a neglected piece of real estate from a player faction and turned it over to an AI faction because the AI faction was infinitely more worthy of controlling it. Now when you fly around Wolfberg, you don't run into dog poo. Wolfberg is now CLEAN!

I don't know how many time I will have to repeat myself but I think it's the third thread : We do not care about wolfberg and what mobius/community does to it. I don't know how to make it more clear. Maybe you need a picture or a book explaining why we are too busy playing the division, eve online or dark souls 3 while you kill NPC's in solo but we simply don't give a dying rat about this system. We don't play the BGS/PP because solo/private players are directly impacting it so until this is fixed we will stick to blowing people up.

Hell, it's been 2+ months now since the mobius attack don't you think we would have done something about it if we cared so much?

Every single thing I did in wolfberg I did in open as did many others I saw it was certainly not only done by players playing in solo or Möbius. I saw many others there. Answer me this if you will. If you care so little for your NPC faction why have it put in in the 1st place? Seems a little selfish if you do not care as it takes a spot for those who do.
Regardless of how you got in Möbius you deliberately broke it's rules so your point is moot imo

Pretty sure it still has a few fleas... we'll need to keep an eye on it.

I just checked. Wolfberg is still in great shape. Both stations are controlled by United Wolfberg Union Party at 69% and are in Boom state while SDC faction is 1.6%. System Authority ships are keeping the place clean and the population knows to keep their dogs on a leash. The article should have mentioned this great piece of emergent game-play how an unorganized group of people cleaned house at Wolfberg using game mechanics that are available to all players regardless of whether they play in Open, Private Group or Solo.
.
Machinewash was exactly right - Wolfberg wasn't stolen, it was abandoned.

This might be a question that has been answered on this thread, but it's very noisy in here...

Why did Eurogamer write a fluff piece for the SDC?

Death threats are wrong I do hope you reported them and I do hope FD do the right thing.

However from an in-game point of view, you are not to be trusted or associated with because of the friends you keep in my view. Obviously not judging you personally just your in-game persona. In real life I am sure you are a great .... wait a minute your an Aussie!

Pardon my French, but what the f*ck? Death threats due to actions in a make-believe spaceship game are "deserved"? I've been on the receiving end of several of these and it simply has no place in a video game's community. Or any community for that matter.

Banned
So to temper those concerns with some realism, how many players do you know who have been banned for simply killing another player in open?

Probably the same number of people they've banned for combat logging. But again, that's not the point I'm stressing.

The point is that I find the idea that someone who plays the game legitimately, follows TOS and EULA can under the very vague guidelines rule, face at the very least investigation leading to shadowban, is just plain wrong.

This multiplies out if that person then happens to accidentally kick over the sandcastle of one of the ingame twitch 'celebrities' and their in some cases, bizarre almost cult like followers and their handwringing and clutching at rosary beads like an earthquake survivor in a bad disaster film, that Frontier encounter anytime they look at the elements of the community they talk to.
