The Formidine Rift - Part 2

Maybe a silly idea but, I was thinking a lot about it: If we follow all the R/R line, until the very end of the galaxy and then we watch our six (so, turn back), we could see the whole galaxy from there. Isn't it?

...probably pointless, but I wanted to share it with all of you.

Here is a nice map that shows the part of the galaxy you see at different times of the year. Late March lines up rater well wit the RR-line.

Did that already, but didn't spot anything out of the ordinary. Impressive view though...

I guess i found a little clue.

There is a star in Cassiopeiae constellation, called PZ CASSIOPEIAE. But it's impossible to find it on map if you use it's name. Instead, if you use HIP number, which is HIP 117078, then it appears to be located almost perfectly on R-R line, on most outer edge of galaxy, but easily approachable, since there are plenty of stars around it (no jumponium required).

At least i know where i'm going to.

In the last galnet entry the Seven Veils is mentioned to be stripped of all valuable equipment.

I've always been convinced that the removal of the tiara is a nod to the story of Salomé/Inanna/Ishtar. I assume Kahina understood the significance of the name later, and after becoming Senator Kahina again for a while, decided to go back to being Salomé, after naming her ship seven veils and did some semi-ritualistic things like discard her tiara (which matches with the final step taken by Ishtar - removing the crown of the goddess in order to relinquish her godhood and become vulnerable to whatever challenges lie ahead. In effect 'naked'.)

The 'stripping' of the ship seven veils would appear to be more than a coincidence considering the seven veils is also known as a 'strip'.

It strikes me that Kahina/Salomé is trying to tell us something. Though considering she is a player in the game now, she could just bloody tell us. I sent her a friend request but haven't been accepted yet :D

Or maybe the best way for Salomé to tell us something is by dropping hints and clues, so that the imps and the feds don't have their suspicions aroused. Which is another reason why she acted like a jerk in Mars High, so that everyone focused on that rather than what she was actually doing. All very cloak and dagger ;)

It seems that I'm not alone in my space madness case, so I'll lay the last bits out for those interested.
If you're not (as in don't want to be biased in your search), just pass on.
  • Cambridge clue : in 1947, radio-astronomers from cambridge discover the strongest radio source > 1GHz out of the solar system. The source is a supernova remnant called Cassiopeia A. The progenitor is unknow as of today, but there is an X ray source there. It is not in game, despite being observable IRL. galactic coord are 111.7°-2.1°. I find very strange that such an object is "missing" from the map.
  • Seven Veils : Prior to core collapse, the progenitor star has 7 layers of nuclear fuel, that will be discarded during the explosion. What remains is the core.

That is an awesome piece of detective work :)

Hi Folks after mulling it over for it bit, I'm still none the wiser as to the area in which needs to be searched.
However I seriously think our ships need to be stripped also, so as to not appear threatening

Maybe that's why none of those ships returned, they were all armed to the teeth in Iron reared ships.

So if you end up as some big terribad's dinner due to your ship being naked and toothless, well rather you than me o7

Guys, is there anyone on the other side of Rift? I'm currently redislocating to that place, looking for CMDRs to add into friend list and coordinate efforts.

Am just crossing the near Formidine bridge now, so will be in the area soon

In HYPO sector after 3 hellish days attempting to cross the Welcome Badlands.

I would NOT try it in an ASP.. my 'conda has 38.80 range and I constantly hit areas of unscoopables and places where I had to jump 1000ly to move 100 forward. Lots of "on fumes" jumps required too. Many, many deadends run into, and thank heavens for EDDiscovery which helped to get me through.

Anyone else on farside of rift please don't hesitate to friend me. :)

Embrace the Madness CMDRs! ;)

What if the same applies to the reorte-riedquat line too...

Just saying: I'd be very keen to know if those systems were placed when Drew wrote his book; and whether he knew where they were either. Judging by the content, quite a lot of things he imagined are different from the game we're playing now.

So if they weren't placed, or he wasn't aware of where they were, then there's absolutely no guarantee this is the right place to be looking. Might be worth trying to get some clarity on this point.

And what if it's beyond bovomit?

I flew Reorte-Riedquat the other day, & what was supposed to be a major trade route in Elite: Revolution is only a single jump so I suspect one or both have moved in the game, which makes me suspect the R-R line as a clue (but it's really the only one we've got as I think everything else is speculative)

Beyond Bovomit? - 'Ere be Dragons! :))

Couldnt you also rule out any destination that would be out of reach of the longest jump range of the ships from launch? I dont think anyone needs to be using the FSD boost.

Yes, absolutely! Drew has said whatever it is was in game form the start & Horizons is not needed (so no Jumponium) and the Old Lady did it in a Cobra Mk3 & I think Drew also supported that (so no Exploracondas needed).
