Distant Worlds - A journey beyond the Abyss

After getting both my ships to Bagel Point at the weekend I am now a bit stuck as to what to do. I am currently 4000 miles from home on holiday in Florida (booked last June so not my fault). I only have my laptop so can only be in one ship at a time. My second account is not Horizons so I cannot land my Asp (Brian Cohen) and I have no faith in my ability to land my 'conda (Montgomery Python) with only an Xbox controller. I don't arrive home until 9 Apr and want to get both ships together for my selfie shots, etc. I will miss out on the end of expedition party due to travelling home. So if anyone sees either of my ships in orbit doing nothing but floating around, please say 'hi' or accept my friend request. I bought @PlanetCoater Alpha just for something else to do. Maybe I should enjoy the Florida sunshine and bearable heat.

Also don't sent your X52 Pro to Mad Catz for repair, they guarantee to lose it.

Fly safe Cmdrs

Montgomery Python
Brian Cohen

The FGe fleet wil be arriving on the 31st may and will have a end group meet up on the 5th June, so there will be others coming in if you have to stay there for a while.

Hello fellow commanders...

...On saturday April 2nd we managed to to go into a formation and did a flyby over the basecamp at BP. For me iot was my first formation fly
as well as some of the participating commanders. It went well and perhaps it looked awesome from the ground. I say perhaps bacause there is no
video footage of it from the ground that I know of. This whole evening was one of my highlights of this journey...

...Commanders of the distant worlds fleet, i salute you. o7

I believe the flyby you're talking about is used as the intro in my Arrival Day video.

Now that looked fun :)

And it was :). Best event I joined so far. That view, when all ships started their chase after tiny SRVs - it was sooo scary. Anacondas shooting with that big lasers :D. I enjoyed it a lot :D and I highly advise all of you to join for next round today.

Thanks commander, but our flyby was lead by Cmdr Alexander Tal'Darim in a cobra. One of the participating commanders is working on the footage, but this is
"only" footage from one of the participating ships. We sort of forgot to have someone on the ground for recordings.

Oops, my mistake.

It was REALLY scary when you'd been driving for minutes and suddenly these massive ships came flying by left and right seconds after they'd started. Then you had the careening along in the darkness praying not to be noticed and absolutely papping your pants when the whole world lit up and you knew you'd been spotted! :D

The frantic minutes (seconds.... cough) of jumping, spinning and flying around trying not to get hit; and in my case: turning around to see an Anaconda trying to snort my SRV like some kind of huge metallic porcine predator. I was laughing and squealing (aaaaaand swearing :x ) all at once.

I worked out a few things: 4 pips to shields, prep your synthesis to be ready to repair instantly before setting off, and if you really want to annoy an Anaconda: drive AT them when they spot you. They can't turn quick enough!

Sort of forgot?

Or no one wanted to be in an SRV while a fleet of armed ships flew over head looking for an SRV to blow up?
Most of us where unarmed, stil are :)
We just should have had one less commander in the formation and send him to record from ground, we just didn't..... our fault.

No mistake here commander, you couldn't know that we flew a different flyby could you ?

The unfortunate pilot who died took his demise with grace, even though he must have been gutted. The only consolation is that he'll go down in Elite folklore as the first person to die at Beagle Point, and has no doubt set an unenviable record of being the most distant death ever in Elite Dangerous.

Most Distant Death, now that's a record with quite a ring to it! I'm looking forward to the footage from the whack a rat antics, as I missed all of it.

Last night during those emotional speeches on the livestream i was thinking...why not set up one more WP? WP24: Bubble. Lets give all the commanders enough time to come home by whatever route they have chosen - i think 4-5 months is reasonable - and meet again somewhere in the Bubble. We can sit by the campfire and tell stories about DW and our journey back home. Or just say hello and keep the spirit alive :)
What you think, anyone interested?

I thoroughly LOVE this idea. I'll most likely be the last one to reach said WP24 but I think it's a fantastic concept and a great way to finalize the first Distant Worlds Expedition.

If we are going to stick a waypoint in the bubble then my vote would go for Mitterand Hollow. That planet is bonkers, hence the perfect place for a get together :D

It's also not a permit restricted system which is handy because my first suggestion was going to be for Ariel in the Sol system.
Mitterand Hollow is where the beginnings of the Distant Worlds fleet first met, back in December to help see how basecamp coordination would work on the coming expedition.

It would certainly make a great Waypoint 24.

"Reunion Landing", Mitterand Hollow, Dec. 1st 3302 anyone? :D

You know, I'd completely forgotten about that! It's been a long old journey!

I too laughed quite hard at this one... Its Space madness I tell you... thats it Im punching thru to Beagle Point today you all are have way too much fun for me not to be there...

Cheers :)
7% and still truckin'
I don't know why, but I laughed uncontrollably watching the Star Wars one. Cheers man, that was brilliant.

Glad you like it :D
I had my doubts on uploading the video since I cringed the first time I watched it xD
