Are you role playing as a security force or do you have some other purpose?
Just out of curiosity, are you aware that you still block the pad even when you are inside the hanger?
"Blocking" the pad implies that you're staying on the pad for an inordinate amount of time. It implies that you're "hogging" the pad. When I log into Open, I'm usually on the pad for 20 sec. Sometimes 30 sec. Nobody, and I mean nobody would consider that hogging the pad. I try to be considerate of others even when I'm in a private group by logging off from private or open when I go AFK.
To see what they are carrying and if it's worth them contributing to the "save Liqua" fund ... Tried it twice - killed twice (by players) .. so 2-0 to the good guys![]()
What a great idea! Turn everything off while in Solo before cycling the mode to Open. Commander, I like how you think!
Ah, that makes sense. And actually a nice pirating technique. It is certainly NOT what the offending commander was doing in my instance. I was on the pad for 10 sec when he scanned. And then scanned. And then scanned. Rather petty to do that. If he hadn't scanned at all and was simply waiting to dock on the small pad (of which there are several), he would have had the pad all to himself within 10 sec. So his purpose was clear
Forgot (haven't tested it in a while) :
As soon as you get a "Scan Detected" Message or better as a preventive measure, you also might try Silent Running.
I believe either Hotkey or Ship Menu still work, even when on the Pad.
Combined with the many disabled Ship Modules, it should afford quite a long time without running into overheat issues.
I'm referring to a specific use of repeatedly scanning a ship sitting harmlessly in a hangar
with no purpose other than to harass a player that is attempting to accept Shadow Delivery missions.
no, you're not. you log off not letting any scan complete. there isn't a single scan to speak of. there's you breaking any scan attempt in style: by exiting the game. looks to me like you are misrepresenting this to ...
... better support this wild assumption.
even if it were so (and that would indeed be a jerk) i'd have no sympathy for your issue since i think log-spam is a fundamentally spoiled aspect of the game that should be fixed (meaning eradicated), not supported in any way. however glad you found a clever workaround. learnt something myself!
We need to coin a new term for Combat logging to avoid being scanned.
Scanlog?
Are there actually commanders who log while under fire to avoid a scan?
I generally switch modes (SM) to stack missions, them I SM to get out of the station without risking being scanned. If I see any red text or pirate text, I SM to evade the interdiction. If I run low on fuel, I SM to see if a more scoopable star will populate nearby. I never combat log, though. I only log out when under attack if my shields go down.
So you only mode switch to avoid game mechanics.. am I the only one who thinks that's kinda exploiting the game mechanics..?
