Powerplay Cycle 43 PP Commentary

That actually surprised me there Ben. Especially considering your first post in the thread, though it does fit in with your hat.

 I'm bound to have got the wrong end of the stick. It seems like there is some hot debate going on that I'm not really paying attention to. I'm not of the forums much these days and when I am I'm mostly juts skim reading look for something unusual. Once I'm done fight the war in Isinor in my trusty Cobra MK 3 I'm off to Maia to make some barnacle tea.

Ultimately, those who do not want to participate in power play don't really need to give reasons.

Given the flavour of some of the comments above he, let me cast it this way:

A: Hey there. Would you like to go for a date?

B: Thank you for your interest, but no.

The conversation should end there, right? It shouldn't continue with:

A: but I'm awesome. Go on!

B: ...

So whats the view of the PMF now the shoe is on the other foot?
The Dukes of Mikunn, not to be confused with the Mercs of Mikunn, has now expanded to An Archon Delaine Control System.

And I'm told you don't get to fight expansions with the BGS, they just happen and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Will there be condemnation of this invasion?

We were already in the area around wadir and most likely about to expand there, though its not something we can control. You are so close to Mikunn you are in our expansion area. Its sort of like throwing yourself out in front of a car and we have very little control over it. This was the problem with you being there in the first place Its not news. The expansion proved our point.

It actually hurts you less oddly because feudal does not count if its in your control system, only exploited.

Our Control System is included in the number of systems in the 15 LY bubble, so it is included in the trigger calculation, and it does matter to us if there is a Feudal minor faction in our Control System.

Which is why we didnt want you here because you are in our expansion area.... And this conversation is exactly what I expected would happen and why we didnt want you here. It took all of three days. Now we aren't allowed to expand.

I hope those in other powers (particularly Ben who I am very fond of) understand what our problem is with power play now and how it effects our BGS. Its not "reasons". The above inevitable exchange being one of them. This has a very large effect on our BGS testing.

Very well then.

You didn't want us to expand to Wadir, and you and your allies were able to fight us to stop our expansion.
We don't want a feudal system in our control system, but we don't get to fight you to stop you, you just win automatically.

I'm not sure what you have to complain about. It also seems its impossible to remove the Dukes of Mikunn from our system.

I'm sure you have been opposing our expansion this week, and our systems near by are all getting undermined, so lets not pretend your group isn't actively fighting us.

I'm sure you can see what system we are preparing in response.

There is no way to stop it as you point out... so why would you expand thereand then complain about it.

If wadir was being undermined by us you would see more than 3k merits. Thats not us. I explicitly told people in the Mercs to not undermine Wadir. We don't need to anyway. Its the most obvious target. The community will do it because its your weakest system.

We also have nobody at your expansion. You freely admit you are prepping Mikunn now too. So you are blatantly also breaking your promise not to expand further and that took all but 4 days. This has proved my point.

The build up to that expansion would have been weeks, and possibly months in the making

This is the problem we have with what you and the other Player Minor Factions are doing, you are pledging to powers you don't care about, to fight against another power whos actions you don't like.

All we saw is that Mahon players opposed our expansion last week, Mahon players oppose our expansion this week, and Mahon players are undermining us.

Your group asked the Alliance for help in attacking us, now you say you aren't returning the favour to the Alliance by opposing another one of our expansions?

If you want to pledge to a power to harm another one, thats your choice, but you need to realise you are also harming the power you pledged too as well.
What actions should we take towards your PMF?
What actions should we take towards the Alliance?

We can't sit back and do nothing.

The Imperial Powers don't want us expanding to Imperial systems, the Federation Powers done want us to expand to Federal systems, the Alliance and your coalition of player groups don't want us expanding to Independent systems.

The build up to that expansion would have been weeks, and possibly months in the making

I don't know how long it takes to get into an expansion phase, but I though it would be doable in a week if there are no players working against you.

I would like to know what the odds are of Wadir being the actual system selected.

If there are no competing states, which is something that never happens once you have multiple systems, then it is feasible to get an expansion in 2 weeks.

The odds of Wadir being selected were reducing all the time since other slots in systems had been taken by the Dukes. It was reaching the near inevitable stage - hence the unease with your hostile expansion into Wadir and the attempt to talk you out of it.

And for the record I saw the Mikunn prep earlier yesterday.

Thats because thats when it was preped :)

As far as we are concerned, the Merc of Mikunn are a player group Pledged to Mahon just like the AOS or AEDC.

So if you keep the minor faction in lockdown somewhere, that stops all expansions form that Minor faction?

Yes you could have done nothing. This controversy is all generated by your expansion in the first place. If you had done nothing there would be no issue. Wadir is horrible for you. The community will undermine it every week too as its easy for them.

Not even half of our commanders are pledged to the alliance. Moreover, you know very well we have to pledge to someone, so this is entirely generated to put pressure on them for no reason other than to pressure the alliance. Perhaps the opposition you are receiving from them there is due to you making their systems contested with your expansion.

Yes we are saying we aren't helping them this turn. Why would we? They don't even need it. You aren't even trying against them.

The odds that we land in Wadir are low, but the odds that we expand into your new bubble when it is sitting right in our expansion area is extremely high! Thats why we fought the expansion.
