Can we all Cheer up please?

What the OP and the rest of the cheerleading brigade seem to be asking for is for all dissenting opinions to be scrubbed from the boards, which does nothing but create an echo-chamber.

The OP certainly did not ask for all other opinions to be scrubbed. I will add it again to refresh your memory. He suggests to enjoy it as it or come back at another time. Maybe you should do the latter.

Oh my god...THE TURRETED LIGHT SHOW POSSIBILITIES, GUYS.

DISCO CORVETTE TIME!

What are you talking about? The Corvette is an underpowered, underweaponed travesty of a 2000T "war"ship which only has 4 times the available power of a single sidewinder and yet costs nearly 5000 times as much. ;-)

Just maybe consider this:

The OP made a positive post, as have others before. Some other people chime in and agree.

Then the thread gets noticed and the 'doom and gloom' posters come in and 'do their bit' (think tree & dog) to spread their view of the state of the game and what in their most valuable opinion should be done to fix it.

This happens EVERY TIME and in EVERY THREAD where someone dares to voice their appreciation of the game or company. You can practically set your clock to it. And also you can make a list of who will be posting, and what they will be saying.

Like a metronome. Tick, Tock. Tick Tock.

So, post your critisisms and praises, but how about keeping them in their proper places and not in threads where they are irrelevant to the point being made.

This would make lots of people happy and (more) cheerful !

Everytime I make a negative post about this company and about this game I get people who like the game and the company, hell even people who simply disagree with my statments and spread their postivity on my posts. EVERY TIME.

I HAVE been doing the latter, since about a month post-Horizons release until very recently. Upon my return I see nothing has changed and the first of a supposed four updates that are supposed to be the reason I justified the purchase of Horizons with has been pushed back to June. I repeat, one of four yearly updates is going to take literally half of the current expansion cycle to get out the door. That leaves six remaining months to crank out the remaining three. Looking back at the state of the year one feature patches, and the state of the content being virtually unchanged today, means that it is highly unlikely for FDev to devote significant time and effort to fix or add upon patch content after the initial release. Wings and CGs are still glitchy, PP is still a soulless unwinnable spreadsheet, nearly every ship added in the Ships patch is subpar or outright bad compared to existing ships. This means for Horizons to fulfill its' potential the patches have to be hella good to make up for that, not to mention to justify the snails' pace of development.

Taking a break from the game doesn't mean I can't continue to voice my opinion, especially when I have no proof that development is on the right track.

This cuts both ways. There are several people on this forum who have made it their duty to leap into critical or negative threads and zealously defend FDev and Elite as if it was their 9-5 occupation.

Upon my return I see nothing has changed

So yet another whinging poster saying the same thing with the same complaints. As I said maybe come back later. (Gets popcorn out while waiting for yet another pointless reply as to how ED should be this that or the other)[squeeeee]

That's cheerful right there, I can't wait.

It ought to sound cheerful. 3-4 years is pretty close to a development time of a AAA-title. In fact, if the game is not vastly different and better by that time you can easily say the developers have failed incredibly hard or just did not have resources/manpower to do the job they accepted.

confidence & paranoia

This thread reminds me sooo much of this....

Chill, it's a game, if you're not having fun move on and come back later if you want.

ill cheer up once frontier gives the pvp community some love. seriously we play the game more than anyone else, and we play IN OPEN where it matters. Yet frontier never talks to the pvp community, features us in newsletters, or even shows any indication of considering the huge amount of PvPers in game.
Positive eh ... have to be positive.

Sure you guys play where it matters, sure you play the game more than anyone else. Because you are special. Yes you are.

And dinner was pasta with green pesto and shrooms by the way.

On a Thursday? I don't know what to say other than... You Rebel! :D

Good Morning Campers!

I have good news.

Thursday evening is 'late night shopping' here and I got my PC back with new 980 Ti graphics card and 16 Gb Ram, all working with drivers installed etc before the shops shut.

So I'm back :)
(where's my Arnie impersonation when I need it?)

So, I'm a very happy person right now and intend to be obnoxiously cheerful all day :D

How many lump hammers were used? It's important to know these things! Glad your a happy player this morning, enjoy your new toys!

I disagree, I cannot imagine you saying anything negative and really meaning it. We know you love the game from all the positive motivational posts you leave for people to read!

You excel at positive negative comments, all of which are valid points!

His name was always Buddy
And he'd shrug and ask to stay
She'd sigh like Twig the Wonder Kid
And turn her face away
She's uncertain if she likes him
But she knows she really loves him
It's a crash course for the ravers
It's a Shroom Pasta Thursday

Picture the scene:

The infinite blackness of nothing, in the relative centre, a dull speck of carbon amongst a sea of ebony.

BLINK

A subtle expansion and lightening at the core, a pale smudge of light in the enveloping darkness.

BLINK

BLINK

BLINK

The Universe, a rapidly expanding sphere, populated by pinpricks of sharp actinic light. Each one a galaxy of a hundred billion stars or more. Expanding as each component element struggles to balance the unseen forces which are fuelling repulsion, against the weaker attraction of an equally unseeable gravity.

BLINK

A galaxy, swirling through the void. Four spiral arms appearing poised to cast a multitude of stars aside, flinging them from the host to populate the dark that surrounds it, in a final futile attempt to maintain some last vestige of contact with its rapidly receding siblings.

BLINK

BLINK

A single lonely star, surrounded by an outer shell of trillions of cold ice crystals and rock pebbles, some the size of a small planet. Each jostling and jockeying for position trying to gain a glimpse of the far off spark of heat and light at the centre.

BLINK

A blue/green globe iron cored and sheathed in hairsbreadth of gas. The light refracted from it’s parent white star and diffused to a brilliant ultra-violet blue.

BLINK

BLINK

A single ribbon of black snaking through fields of brown swaying corn, the silence broken by the dull growl of millions of hydrocarbons sacrificed to the Gods of internal combustion.

BLINK

A father and son. The father peers straining through the fly specked windshield of the late model Ford SUV. Wishing for the umpteenth time that he’d remembered to put in his contact lenses before offering to take of Tommy on his drive to the mall. A dull throb heralds the onset of an Olympic Grade headache. Instigated by the gallons of dishwater that passes for beer in this part of the world and consumed the night before; exacerbated by the endless wailing of his son.

“But Dad, I wanna see the elephants.”

“Tommy, You can’t see elephants, I told you I was going to the mall, and you agreed you wanted to come to the mall”

“But Daaad, Why are there no elephants at the Mall. I wanna see the elephants. I like Elephants.”

“There are no Elephants at the Mall, Tommy. The Mall is designed for people to go shopping and buy things. If you wanted to see elephants you should have asked your mom to take you to the zoo. That’s where you find elephants.”

“But Daaaaad, the Mall advertises a petting zoo, so I demand they put in elephants. You don’t love me and the mall doesn’t love me if they don’t knock the buildings down before we get there and put in elephants. I wanna see the elephants.”

“Yes Tommy the Mall has a zoo of sorts, but as it’s designed and built for people, the zoo isn’t the main focus of the mall and so it’s restricted in the kind of animals they’ll let in. It’s just not built for elephants, It was never designed for elephants, there are no elephants at the mall. You knew there were no elephants at the mall before you said you wanted to come to the mall. Tommy, there are no Elephants.”

“But Daaaaaaad, I wanna see the elephants.”

Repeat Ad Nauseam.

It's Friday, the weekend. Time to get the glad rags on, stock up on beer, anti-hangover juice (more beer) and see if you can complete 20 Drunken Docks, backwards, wearing a blindfold whilst standing on one leg humming the theme song from that lovable 70s sit com "MASH".

So.. you gave up all hope of wonder and excitement to be had from this game?

None! Just a crow-bar to lever my wallet open......

You Scottish by any chance? :D

I sprang for a new case and fan controller the other day - I can finally hear every noise the game makes without having to increase the volume to the point where my ears bleed! I got it all fitted last night so today I am a happy bunny, full of cheer and looking forward to getting some decent game-play in this weekend!

Obviously I fitted all of this myself with the aid of a JCB to remove my old hardware from the old case and a rivet gun to secure it inside the new one. The fan controller is jammed into one of the air intakes and held in place with super glue while the fans are all set to suck air out of the case - I hear that heat spreads less in a vacuum.
