The public Elite Dangerous player figures have been dropping steadily for months and are now at an all time low, regardless of whether you look at the
number playing at any one time or the
number that have played at all recently. And
sales (net increase in owners) are around zero.
On ten words or less, what do you think is the single most effective move Frontier could make to arrest this decline?
Apart from discounting the price to $1.
Seems like natural progress of games? and note these are steam numbers that do not cover the actual frontier launcher usage, and last I checked its half and half at best, in fact people that have been around since beginning before steam launch, would more likely have the frontier launcher.
But yeah, yet another of these posts, I see some numbers and I make an assumption from those based on incomplete facts.
1: Elite is a niche game, not a mainline game type of late, but it is gaining traction of late.
2: Elite's method of development seems to have been misunderstood by many, also including what type of game it is.
3: Steamspy and other third party sites cannot track private profiles, and a ton upon ton of people have private profiles, due to amongst other things bots and whatnot of late, avoiding annoying bots that is though I'm sure some bots are also private.
According to steamspy:
http://steamspy.com/app/359320
over the last two weeks, there has been 74000 players over the last two weeks, that use steam, that is not an insignificant number.
Remember, a game does not need multi millions of sales and such to be a successful game, there are a ton of "Tripple A" games, that suck, despite their sale figures. Look at Assassin's Creed Unity for example, which also has another launcher.
So yeah, what can Frontier do?
Same thing other games that have gotten only better over time, don't listen to the doom sayers? make the game they want to make, there are more then enough players and people to be successful.
Games go through, there's been time where Dota 2, has lost, 200k-300k players, yes, from a million, sure but that is still a third of its population, was it doomed? nope, doing fine, got better.
Remember there are also other games that people want to play, games that will not last hundreds of hours, a lot of people do not play just one game, but varies what they play now and again.
So yeah, it seems the purpose of these kinds of threads is only to make people doubt game to try and make it lose people...so what could you do? make suggestions on how to improve the game? constructive stuff? rather then sky is falling?
