The Formidine Rift - Part 2

So I'm just hitting the outer edges of the Rift straight from the Heart/ Soul Nebulae. Man do the stars get thin real quick. Anyone have a handy list of systems that will cross the galactic arm into the arm right under the rift?

I'm currently parked at HYPOAE AIM EK-E B25-0. I've got another 1KLY before the stars virtually disappear but I'm planning in advance since thats a lot of space with very few stars. Jump-range is 39.94LY on a 24T fuel tank.

On the googledocs spreadsheet it says of The 'Welcome' Scheau-Hypue Badlands "Despite being designated as a badland region, this small area of non-scoopable stars provides a very welcome traverse-point for the desperate explorer attempting to cross the Formidine Rift. The normally low star density throughout this region of the Rift usually makes route plotting difficult, however this badland sector acts as a 'bridge' and can paradoxically be helpful to the traveler (provided he stocks up on fuel before entering the badlands!). A safe passage is possible by taking the following jump-references: Scheau Hypue HC-J b29-0 (entry), Scheau Hypue ZM-Q d6-1, Scheau Hypue PD-Q b25-0, Scheau Hypue LX-R b24-0, Scheau Hypue GR-T b23-0, Scheau Hypue UJ-O b26-0, Scheau Hypue CL-V b22-0 (exit)".

You can't cross on that part, unless you're willing to use Basic and Standard Jumponiums. I know because I just crossed close to where you are yesterday. You have to move either on the east or west before you cross. If you draw a line from Sol to Heart Nebula, that's where I crossed without any Jumponium.

I never found a way across :p
I had to go "north-east" and use the main bridge. I didn't spend to long looking though to be honest. Now I'm on the other side of the wall....checking out systems along the "back".
38ly range. no jumponium

Thanks for this, massive help. I'm on a 24t tank though so unless those stars are relatively close together (sub 25ly) I might miss that extra fuel without a scoopable around. I'll take a look.

I still can't make my mind up where the best place is to look. In the rift....the back of the rift....under....over....I change my mind every day when I look over what we know. So I end up with no path at all and just rambling around. :)

I lost my rambleing stick the other day...if anyone finds it floating about...please kindly return it. Tis me lucky stick....

Some of the greatest discoveries were found accidentally. Worth remembering. :)

I am rather autistic myself, it has been a major advantage in writing, though it makes the social side harder work. I only play in solo other than community events. I have a lot of sympathy for the 'lone wolf' CMDRs.

Cheers,

Drew.

Thanks Drew, your words mean a lot to me. I don't believe we are at a disadvantage, but special and some of us see things that many others miss or cannot grasp. For me it is patterns and logic.

I am a mechanic by traid. And my apprentice has asbergers which I think is a form of autisem. (Sorry for the spelling).
He's finding it difficult to get along with some of the older guys at work. But I've never in all my years had a better apprentice. He's so methodical. I don't realy have to show him much. He just gets it very quickly indeed. It sertanly doesn't hold him back. :)

He's just done his lvl2...but he's already done all the work requierd for his level 3. I was going to put him in for apprentice of the year award but he said not to. There's an award ceremony and dinner....he realy realy didn't want that.
So my boss...realy nice guy...has said that when he gets qualified, the company will buy him some tools. Witch is a big deal if you know how much thay cost.
So refreshing to work at a company that supports it's workers :)

An expedition can consist of may parts or groups..

Some can be there to view and report detailed information, others can be pathfinders, a more loosely organised group, looking for points of interest for those detailed explorers to take a closer look at.

There will always be individuals who are intrigued by any kind of exploration that's on-going and they may be in it for different reasons e.g. treasure hunters, people seeking fame or just those who are curious and want to do their own research.

The above has been true since exploration first began (and I'm not limiting that to the Elite universe).

Nothing wrong with carrying on as we are IMHO. It's working so far.

Definition of Expedition from Cambridge (usually use Oxford dictionary, but this seems appropriate!) dictionary "an organized journey for a particular purpose"
Well, I've journeyed to the Rift (or where I thought it was, now going to have to journey a bit further), my purpose is to explore in general & more specifically search for Drew's Mystery, & I got organised by fitting two beam lasers to my previously unarmed Asp, so I think I am on an expedition!
:))

Finally had time to update my frend list with luckyluke's rifter list....That's grown! Took me a while to send all them requests out. :p

Ofc. It's just a frendly request. Accept or decline as you guys see fit. :D

Yeah, I just got round to this too. I have I feeling I might have accidentally cancelled some as well whilst trying to be quick about it. I have to say, I'm mostly a lone commander too, but I think it could help for co-ordination purposes. Also, whilst most people on my friends list have only seen me in open, that is not how I usually play.... only out and about away from the bubble. Otherwise, I tend to be in Mobius or my own group.

You aren't wrong about how long it takes now the list is growing :D

That's really nice to hear. Sadly something that isn't repeated anywhere near enough in a day and age supposedly so open about such things. :)

I agree. Having said that. The company I work for and my boss is open to these things. My dyslexia included. But the work force isn't. These older guys we work with....I mean 65 years pluss. Thay don't understand. and the environment is realy oppressive. To the extent that thay call my apprentice "rain man". I find that realy realy offensive but to his credit my apprentice just lafs it off. It's been just over a year now...and thay have got bored. Thay have even asked for his help once or twice. :)

I suppose there's a lesson there. If you are good at something.....eventually....it will always be noticed.
My apprentice got his apprentaship by bringing with him to the interview a working engine that he made out of...I think mechano or something along them lines. How cool it that :)

There is much more openness and awareness for autism these days. One of the reasons why I admitted to being autistic in these forums. I wanted to join the DW Expedition, but felt that my obsessions for scanning interesting systems completely would hold them and both me back. I am also quite aware that I may offend somebody in chat and could then get killed and sent back to the core loosing everything. Many people still don't understand or accept the condition, but as time progresses, people change and begin to realise that some of us have traits that even a super computer cannot match, and will take advantage of it. Those who cannot accept us are really missing out on something special. However this is side tracking the main thread, so I apologise for the diversion.

Anyway back on topic...
Salome has accepted my frend request /blush
I'm not gonna /w her.....what if she tells me off?!? She's a scary lady. :)
