how do you know this?

I came up with the rng element based ona comment from ed during an interview.. I will look see if I can find it..

im not saying im right, im just saying that was the impression I got of top tier mods from that one comment.

If you can find a source then I am happy to be proved wrong. :)

Given that the Engineers are being trailed as individually crafted, the use of RNG to determine the upgrades would be nonsensical. But perhaps you're right!

FSD beyond any hesitation!
I would love to take my Corvette out to the void hunting without having a seizure due to 12 LY jumprange...

Other.

I'm most looking forward to, but not expecting, the ability of the engineers to subdivide internal compartments.

E.g. turn one type 4 internal compartment into two type 2's.

And as jam on the cake, I'd like an engineer able to make the SRV hanger fit into the cargo hold, taking 'n' tons capacity, but NOT take an (additional) internal compartment.

......-new engine sounds! Some people want green lasers. I just want my Asp to sound like a Keelback :)
.......

I haven't flown a Keelback but I nicknamed my Asp the Flatuant Hippopotamus. The sound used to bug me. I could never decide if it was breaking wind or the rubber band was loose.

Having a greater range on the FSD is not going to make an appreciable difference on longer exploring trips, so your conclusion about removing 'the tedium of honk jumping' doesn't hold up.

It will make a difference for us combat pilots. There is a reason that right now this FAS is preferred over this FDL for undermining

Had to vote for Thrusters though quite honestly I'm looking forward to all. Thrusters mainly as I'm hoping one could tweak/adjust boost behaviour, something similar to the efficiency boost upgrade (or downgrade depending on your perspective) in CQC, sacrificing top speed and less capacitor drain for a reduced boost cycle.. for instance.

I doubt this will happen but I'm hopeful and personally would find this an incredibly useful combat tool especially if it was "tweakable" (is that a word?) on the fly somehow.

52.8% of players seem to think otherwise ;) In all seriousness though, the need for a better FSD drive is two fold, one is exploration where you might need to cross some larger gaps, but more importantly it reduces the time spent hopping around in inhabited space, allowing ships that previously where a pain to use to be taken out of retirement :)

Edit: Having said that - your statement is downright wrong assuming your goal is to get to your destination, see something, and get back. 100% increase in range gives 50% decrease in time. Now if your goal is to honk as many systems as you can then of course you are right :)

I like how I read all those awesome ideas and we'll probably end up with a week-long resource grind to get a 5% boost to a specific stat :D

If there is one that does different coloured lazers, ill be visiting them, getting a ship with lots of hardpoints, and making a Nyan ship!

If these are specific to the module do we lose it if we refit? Would we be able to sell then switch ships and buy back an enhanced laser if we wanted to refit for mining for example?

That is subject to a debate, answer is the public do not know. Currently with no way to store anything, upgraded modules would be lost.

FD as far as I am aware, have not said what happens to an upgraded module if you need to swap it for another.

Everyone seems to assume that Engineers will just improve stuff. The grumpy part of me (most of me) suspects that the Engineer changes will be more like PP Specials. Better at something, WITH A COST.

Technically we should be able to sell a module then buy a ship with an equivalent size module slot and rebuy as long as you don't log out and we're not faffing around for too long. Not sure what the time limit is but even if the station doesn't sell that module we can still rebuy one we've sold. Or that's my understanding.

That may not be the same for enhanced modules or it may be the, hardpoint for example, itself is enhanced. Really I'm just thinking out loud here about what I need to test once engineers arrive. Be annoying if you bought an FDL just to store an enhanced huge PA only to end up with a stock huge PA when re-buying.

I'm just interested to see how Engineers will not turn PvP into an even more paper-scissors-stone activity, with people wishing to take part in it even more destined to grind at improving all their modules to "stay competitive"!?

Interesting times ahead...

...and maybe that's how they will stop people simply mindlessly pimping every module? So you may be onto something...
