Summary of 2.1 "The Engineers" changes+additions from the dev updates and newsletters

Considering there is no announced "Python 3300Y Edition +10% to mission rewards" that's purely speculation and fear on your part.
22€ and THEIR python 3300 atop of it. Seems you failed to understand the metaphor.

But you point about price is correct. 22€ regional price. Thus premium account in Star conflict of WT more expensive than ED addons.

neither game is an open world quasi MMO
Star Conflict (Also Gaijin's MMO) is open world client-server space MMO with missions, arena, clans and capital ships. (sounds as cool as massive multiplayer space on ED official site)

Initially they said that synthesis materials (and they are power multipliers) will be placed behind paywall until they make them gatherable in space. Now it seems they slowly drifting to more WoW like payment model.

Umm. you got a misquote in your post. I didn't say that.

But my point is, if you are going to do something then why not do it properly. Such little extra work for such a massive boost in ease of use. It's been the whole problem with ED, half baked features.

I don't get the whole let's settle for it because it's better than nothing attitude.

Just my opinion of course.

I agree, but it may be a work in progress. Get the basics in first than build it over time, very much like the galaxy map now has filters which didn't before hand. I agree that it would be great to have filters etc, but it may not come in straight away, I hope it does. I am not just settling for it, just saying at least its far better than what we have now, which is nothing, which isn't an opinion but a fact.

No, they didn't say that. Synthesis materials has always been collectible on planetary surfaces, and they are used to boost capabilities, yes. However with looting people with Season 1 will be able to get similar boosts too.

Worth adding?...

Back in September the plan was:

Just to let you folk know: the plan for loot is for it to be a core system update (all seasons), so everyone will be able to use loot.

However, there will be a bunch of loot content that is season 2 (Horizons) only.

Hope this info helps.

Lets hope that 2.1. delivers actual fun content to play trough, not just bars to grind to get 10% extra power, 10% extra jump range, 10% extra ammo, 10% extra boost speed, 10% extra top speed.

We had enough hype and vapour about horizons and excuses if you want to take money for seasons you gotta give something back

You buy an expansion you will get items, features, and power ups that people without the expansion will not get in any online game or any game made that makes some form of add on that you buy. If they would give you all that, why buy an expansion if they give you everything for free? I know the thought is but you will get more powerful weapons, or shields are what ever. The thing is that happens in any and every game you buy an expansion and you get things those without will not have. In some games you gain levels with an expansion, more power that those without will never get.
.
the complaints is that FD said they will make some available without the expansion and that may happen, but no where was it said they would get it all available, or what it would entail. In other words don't have the expansion and one engineer is available the rest on planets, is 100 times more then any other MMO that lock all new content behind zones you need the expansion to access. Level increase no expansion you will always be behind those with it, at least in Elite you may face someone with better shields and weapons, but if your a better pilot you can still win.

Thanks, but I personally feel this quote dates too far back to be included in the list. From what I understand, all the changes and additions that have been discussed in the dev updates and newsletters since January are pretty much guaranteed to be part of 2.1, at least in the discussed form even if the exact details were often not discussed.

The loot newsletter indicated that the loot aspect will be discussed in the future, so I'm holding out to update the list concerning loot until we have more specific info from future newsletters. Unless we get any confirmation, I don't want to include the loot available in season one part. What purpose will loot have for season one players when they can't reach the engineers on the surface? Will there even be loot for season one players or have the plans they had back then changed? Is it a surface wreckage only mechanic or can loot also be found in wrecks floating in space? Is there some form of synthesis/crafting without engineers that can be performed by players without Horizons?

I expect those details to be clarified in the coming weeks, by which time I'll update the list. :)

Thanks for the summary (linked via another thread) - allowed me to catch up in 1 post :)

This part though was sad for me : "There is a minimum requirement for player ranks/alignment/stats for using an engineer's service" as I play Self-IM (wipe post death) which means decision time .. continue doing that or abandon the idea to meet the Engineers :(

Thanks for putting this together Burnyburns!

Been hard keeping track of what is coming :)

My fingers are cross that there is a fix for the SRV throttle too not working properly with my HOTAS, other than that looking forward to these improvements.

Hear hear, it's playing havoc with my attempts to win the Buckyball Total Recall race.

Hi,

Great work OP. I was feeling a bit slack for not continuing my previous thread on Horizons updates so you just made me feel better :)

Can anyone explain the exact difference this will make?

  • Star light has been fixed so that it retains its colour over distance

If I recall, the comments around this had to do with realism while on planet surfaces. So around a red star, the light emitted onto the planet will be reddish. Today this is not the case.

The starlight fix-- if it really does mean more realistically colored light when we are on the planet surfaces, I think will add loads more personality and originality to the moons we visit....Great addition FDev's

Well, there's healing lasers for a start.

Just updated the list ;)

This quote from yesterday's announcement is important I think, because it stresses that not just combat modules/weapons will benefit from seeking the engineers:

"you will be able to improve and upgrade the stats on every module of your ship, and add rare, experimental effects to your weapons for some special outcomes"
