The Buckyball Racing Club Presents: Total Recall (2nd - 17th April 3302)

I'll be giving this a try as soon as I get home... I figure Yello would be the obvious choice of music to listen to while doing the course!

I may even finish before the music!

Hehe, welcome to the fold Bran. I hope for the sake of your ears you finish before the music :D

Good luck! Choose something silly and wreck them all! [praise]
Don't know about wrecking them all, I didn't quite feel all that competitive or I would have had a go with a DBX like the top places.
Initially I thought of having a go with a T9 just to be different, but it was some 200LYs away from where I am and no doubt would have come dead last.
The participation was satisfying enough. Out of the 3 attempts, the time difference was only 3 minutes between best and worst.
I'll have to keep an eye out for future events like these, it's good to do something different every now and then.

Well, I have completed an entry (in my Cobra mkIII, Back of Beyond). It won't be troubling the leaders, which is largely down to my SRV driving skills, or lack thereof. This may or may not be related to the fact that the following statistic comes from after my entry in this race...

Interdiction. Ship lands in a crater that I can't drive into. Crash to desktop boarding ship. Transaction server error.

It's Sunday racing!

Raced to first world... had not bought a vehicle... raced back to Schneider relay... would not get past docking request... curse you Sunday racing!
I'm sure somewhere during a good run the UI getting stuck will happen and ill flip the desk. it doesn't take much.. I need sedating.

Yea, it's part of the fun. Murphy's law and stuff. :)
I NEVER had a ship fail to touch down, I never fell through the texture, I never had the hyperspace softlock for a minute, haven't been interdicted for a month since I quit powerplay, my ship never landed in such way that I got stuck under her while trying to board, I didn't have to do the loop of shame for a year, never approached planet so that instead of entering a glide I would be thrown out of the SC.

Yet I had ALL THESE happen to me in the first two runs of this race. I'm not even mad, that's amazing, right? [hehe]

Can't drive under ship. Dismiss ship. Recall ship. Still can't drive under it. Dismiss and recall again. STILL can't drive under it. Next attempt, crash to desktop again.

Do you want me to come and flip your desk for you?

I'm giving up now. I'm sure I could do sub 33 minutes. Not like this.

Day sixteen

Howdy folks, I'm back! Found a whole bunch of Total Recall race submissions in my inbox and the good news (for those of you waiting to hear) is that they all check out. Unfortunately the bad news is that I seem to be suffering some kind of network interference here and have only managed to upload a fragment of todays scoreboard.

Still, it's all pretty exciting stuff as you can see with two new entries in the podium position slots and 4 new entries elsewhere in the table.

I'll get straight back to working on these darn network issues but before I disappear again I'd just like to welcome Cmdrs MrDragonRaar (in an Asp Explorer called Nukem Solid) and Backer #-4112 (in a Viper Mk IV called Secondhand Junk) to the Buckyball Racing Club. It's really great to see some fresh faces around here and I trust you'll bare with us while we attempt to resolve our scoreboard difficulties (alas the BRC seems to be plagued by these, it's almost as if the scores didn't want to be revealed). Also a quick hi to Samwell Drakhyr who's returned from the back of beyond in a Cobra Mk III named "The Back of Beyond". Nice to see you out on the race circuit again.

Excellent times one and all, and there's still over 7 hours to go if anyone fancies taking just one more crack at it!

Finally I'd like to send out my sympathies to Cmdr Aitken who's been stuck in the waiting room since the race began. It appears he's been having the most appalling problems with extremely long Supercruise and/or Glide mode drop-up times (possibly networking problems, possibly something else) but despite trying all sort of things to resolve these has had no success whatsoever and has thus been unable to complete a raceworthy circuit.

P.S. love the new avatar Polly!

I didn't take it as a competition either. :)
Glad you had fun.

Alec, is it just my browser, or did you really upload only positions strip of the leader board? :D

STOP PRESS - it appears that all three podium position slots now feature new times. Hot damn, looks like this one's going down to the wire folks!

Like I say, technical difficulties. I'm sure they'll be resolved by the time the final scores are revealed tomorrow. :D

A second attempt still had plenty of problems, but at least I managed to improve my time by over a minute. I think that's it for me for now - I obviously need more practice at (a) landing and (b) SRV driving, but I'm not going to get those sorted out tonight!

Hello to Aken B. who came along to watch one of my ship recalls - which, amusingly, saw my ship flying in upside down until it was quite close to the ground...

Word of robinjb's and my desks continued uprightedness must have reached the servers. I thought maybe the Courier would be large enough that I wouldn't have any trouble driving under it.

The game can still crash to desktop after boarding though.
