Nothing wrong with bringing a point to be discussed, personally however I have never encountered any problems flying on the dark side of any planetary body in the last year or more.
If there are no habitats, cities etc. an airless planet should be freaky dark on the opposing side to its star, that adds more immersion and feeling to the environment further adds more of a challenging experience, at least until you are familiar with it.
So no for me personally, I would not want this. It is far too easy to dumb a game down and loose what we have, for something that is not an in game required function, therefore it becomes relegated to a want for you not a game need.
On a future note though, infra red might be a useful concept if and only if you are trying to locate a hidden base/entrance by its heat emissions, when in a buggy if/or when they create walking on planets. But not at this point in the games iteration.
