I've seen a fair few, by my recollection.if they outfit the NPC's with the new drives there is a good chance.
but on the other hand.. how many NPC's have you seen with Bi-Weave shields?

Won't this basically kill shadow smuggling?
The vast majority of police interdictors are Viper 3s, and if they become much faster, neither the AspEx nor the Cobra 3 may be able to outrun a scan (which is already really close on the AspEx).
That's just it. I won't do that. Open mode means I have to deal with annoying pkers. I don't wanna, so I play solo. Blockade circumvented. Even if I played open, I would by random chance have to be put into the same instance as the pkers, so they could see and attempt to interdict me. At which point it is perfectly legitimate for me to log out to main menu and back in to solo to finish my journey. A so-called blockade in ED maybe catches 3 out of 10 trading ships during a CG.
That's not a blockade, that's a minor nuisance.
But I don't wanna derail any further. "Try being a trader in open" - Heh! No thanks, I'm not a masochist.

Not sure anyone has brought up the old concept art yet....

Wondering if FD modellers and texture guys have had the time to do this for all the smaller ships. It would be quite a task because a lot of paintjobs would have to come in multiple patterns to accomodate the various engines, or the paintjobs be split into sub-packs at least so they can change the back part individually.
The Cobra's speed scales very well with weight as well. The Viper's does not.
I wonder if we'll see the return of the 500m/s fixed cannon Vipers![]()
First off, I seriously doubt that the upgraded Viper will be faster than the Cobra. Even if it is, the Cobra has a better sustained boost, so it will be close.
I doubt it. Assuming they now get at least an E-rated scanner and you drop at 200m from the cop, that means you have 10 seconds to bridge that 1800m. Even without boost or upgraded engines the Viper has a cruise speed sufficient to scan even a boosting cobra.
What I wonder is that FD spends time tweaking minor aspects of ships that are rarely used, rather than fixing at least some of the plethora of bugs that have been present since the beginning.
You haven't been paying attention to the planned fixes, overhauls and new features for 2.1, have you?
Second, NPCs don't use boost.
Too bad the engine performance is almost irrelevant because the most important aspects are governed by the flight assist computer (ability to turn, speed etc.).
Yes, I have, and it does not contain any fixes for many of the most annoying bugs and shortcomings.
Erm, yeah they do...
Not sure if that sort of attitude will fly round here. Actually wait to see something before passing judgement? My word, that's an alien concept. [alien]We'll have to see the extent of the changes to make any realistic judgments.
In general..agreed!Depends on how the AI is updated - at the moment, NPCs don't follow you at full speed anyway - you can outrun the police in all but the slowest ships.
