What a sad game this is when you have to resort to combat logging because of crappy game mechanics

What a nightmare...

See my post higher on the same page.

In any case, I am not asking for easier interdiction encounters or for the balance to be shifted heavily in favor of the interdictee. All I'm asking is that the target in the interdiction does not travel away from his destination and towards the interdictor. It both inconsistent with the game universe and immersion breaking, as well as a nuisance to the target (frankly I am amazed I haven't yet heard reports of Suicidewinders chain interdicting players indefinitely, just because they can).

Frankly, until NPCs stop cheating and teleporting, I don't blame any player for combat logging to them. After having taken appropriate steps to escape, having them ignored and nullified by teleporting, cooldown-defying, infinite-ammo heatless perfect-aiming sense-you-even-when-zero-temperature instantly wake-following NPCs sucks donkey nuts. Yes. I advocate combat logging when the game is cheating you. It has way more justification behind it than even the worst pvp scenario.

I am regularily combat logging against Npc interdictors while I am on smuggling or trade runs - dealing with them is nothing but a waste of time. It`s the people I like to play with and for this hobby I need money, lot of it.

Its a good job that NPCs can't come to the forums and complain about combat loggers :D

I combat logged on NPC's twice... 1st time I was losing the fight and the game glitched out. 2nd time I was winning and the game glitched out - I guess that makes us even :) It was nearly 16 months ago now - not getting many game issues now so I'm not combat logging at all. However, as a show of good will, I'd like to offer my apologies to the NPC's that were affected.

Let me first start by stating that I don't like to cheat. This is the only game I have played in a long time where I will cheat occasionally, I do this because the game cheats also.

So I'm in SC and two different pirates send me messages to indicate they are about to interdict me. One of them does so I submit then the other drops in too, no biggy, this happens all the time. I boost away and jump out again. These two NPCs just keep jumping in and interdicting me. Anyway it goes on and sometimes I get an FSD failure due to their magic ability to fill the bar instantly sometimes; I have to wait for the FSD cooldown which serves no purpose other than to annoy you. This is already annoying and dumb mechanics but here's the best bit - I decided that on the next interdiction I'll fight the mini game. When it happens it took around 1.5 mins to win it then INSTANTLY I get locked into another by the other NPC and have to do that also. So many game mechanics that are not only broken but just seem to serve the only purpose of severely annoying the player.

What prompted me to write this though was why I was forced to combat log. As if all the above isn't annoying enough as it is, I had another incident in the next system where a pirate kept doing the same (only 1 this time). I managed to get within 10MM of the station, literally about to drop and he interdicts me. I submit and boost away and jump again but I somehow start about 10LS away from the station!! My plan was, since I was so close to the station I could jump and then safe disengage before he got behind me again. Anyway, this repeated for 5 times where I kept getting really close then interdicted and it would reset 10LS away again. I'd had enough and combat logged, logged back in and flew to the station. What a joke!

BTW for both these occasions I did not have any missions active, I was just doing my own trade.

So many mechanics like this that just astounds me that the DEVs never once thought "hmm, would this annoy the hell out of the players??, no"

It's a sad day when we have to resort on game exploits to counter the games stupid annoying flaws!

This why I travel armed 99% of the time. So I can blow those annoying gits out of the cosmos. Other than that, best to high-wake.

I'd like to make a complaint on behalf of all the NPC's that have had their victims combat log on them..... What are you thinking guys?

Submit a ticket to FDEV Support asking for them to be compensated

(Too soon?)

Can we ban some of these people please?

Why? It`s just stupid NPCs. What I am doing with them does not affect you in any way, right? In my eyes PvE in ED is necessary evil which serves just one purpose: to generate cash so that I can fuel my daily PvP routine. I am really trying to be involved in that as little as possible.

I cannot stress this enough - I have never, ever logged out of fight with player, and will never do. I can also assure you that I am dying to players ALOT. Plenty of great pilots out there.

Next time:

- Jump to supercruise
- Immediately throttle down and drop to normal space
- Jump to supercruise

That has worked for me with persistent NPCs.

Hehe yeah i had a encounter with persistent NPC too. First time i did the same, then they interdicted me again, i throttled down and superecruised again. Good thing was i was near a station, i reached the station when both ships followed me and they both got shot down by the station for attacking me in the no fire zone.

Thats how i get rid of those persistent NPCs. Was really funny and exiting :D

I guess the argument is that it still has an effect on the BGS, if someone never fails missions or logs out in warzones etc they do have an effect on the overall game. Tbh I don't really care, just find it pretty laughable that anyone would combat log against any opponent, logging against a computer controlled opponent makes it all the more rediculous.

I've been annoyed today guys!

1 pirate and a local cop gave me the message that they were after me!
I killed the pirate and got into SC.
The cop was waiting for me.
I led him into the star, the station was 200 LS away so i decided to go while the cop is after me (he had 30 seconds of cooldown)

Anyway i dropped normal space to the outpost.
I've been scanned out of nowhere when i was 2 meter on the station!!!
And all of my shadow missions were all gone.
Now i m very       . There was noone around :)

The game definately cheats.
Out posts or stations dont scan.
No NPC's or players aroud..
I call it a cheat! Who did scan me anyway?
I just lost my 3 hours of robigo run for nothing..
Enough for todays play.

Next week Elite, next week [down]

I agree, combat logging against players is laughable. To be outplayed and killed in good fight is big part of the fun. On the other hand, I have zero interest in running around in circles with NPCs and to waste my limited playtime with boring AI bots.

BTW, I doubt that my individual actions really affect BGS so much that anyone should be worried.

Pretty sure MB debunked infinite ammo and perfect aiming by saying the only weapon in which they do have infinite ammo are Multi-cannons, intended because they purposefully miss their targets. The rest is coming up in the 2.1 patch.

I do agree with the instant appearance half-way to the station, but for the rest of it, if you don't want to play the game, then why are you playing? Killing them is easy, yet you flee and wonder why they're persistant? The community asked for a more challenging AI, yet, when it comes down to it they want the "easy-way-out" button to guarantee their deliveries?

Sad when CQC is not within the game but on a menu.
Sad that escape pods seem to have instant Hyperspace and the insurer can transport a new ship and source all your upgrades from just 1 click.

Looking at your screenshot I can't for the life of me see what is wrong. I've certainly interdicted NPCs at similar angles.

Well isn't that the point? I am pretty sure a Player cannot interdict at that angle??

Said it before, and I'll say it again. I got no problem with challenging ai - I welcome it. Cheating AI can bite me.
