What a sad game this is when you have to resort to combat logging because of crappy game mechanics

Reference needed before I would believe this.

Look it up yourself, check SJAs post history. There are some differences in the rules for us and AI, its well documented. Not as much as some claim her but still.

In any case it totally does not justify cheating and combat logging, thats just lame behavior from sour losers. If you dont like the rules of npcs, dont play. Cheating is never a valid solution in a multiplayer game. All the apologists above should be ashamed.

probably summed everything up better than I did about the issues.

I really didn't expect this to spark to such a big debate. For those of you bagging me for combat logging, I think I may not have explained myself fully - I combat logged not to avoid the fight or death, I did it because I was caught in the endless loop of getting within 1 sec of safe disengage only to be teleported 10LS away and have to start over again.

For those asking about my loadout, I was in a type 6 transport.

Now I hear you when you say I can jump to another system and back in again but this just means I start at the sun again and in this case the station was 10,000LS away! It is easier to log out and back in again; maybe I shouldn't have used the phrase combat logging but just 'logging to main menu' instead...

At the end of the day the point I was trying to make is that it simply isn't fun to put you in this 'loop' and the dirty tactics the AI use just frustrate you to the point that you want to rage quit. This post is not about whether I should fight the NPC or not, it is about that I didn't want to and should be able to avoid it if I am 1 sec away from the station; this is the caveat here - I get what you are saying that I should fight the mini game normally to escape but in this case I shouldn't have to. If I'm about a 2 minutes away from the station then fair enough if I keep trying to run but each time you jump you should get a little closer. In this example though, the second time I jumped I should have had enough time to make it to the station before the NPC tried another interdiction but because of it's magical interdiction technique (crazy interdiction angles and let's not forget the epileptic seizure that can happen on screen sometimes!) along with with me being 'reset' about 10 LS away I couldn't. When that happens I can't be bothered wasting my time in a fight I shouldn't have been in, in the first place.

Just a quick question here - did you use open/solo hopping to stack Robigo missions prior to this journey?

I agree, combat logging against players is laughable. To be outplayed and killed in good fight is big part of the fun. On the other hand, I have zero interest in running around in circles with NPCs and to waste my limited playtime with boring AI bots.

BTW, I doubt that my individual actions really affect BGS so much that anyone should be worried.

Combat logging against players might have a decent defence - like if they were cheating with unlimited ammo, unlimited shields etc.

Combat logging against A.I - now that is laughable.

Careful, I got infracted for calling him a sore loser so calling them sore losers is against the forum rules. Call it "bad sportsmanship" it affects the cheater/exploiters feelings less and cannot be considered inflammatory.

Sorry but you are wrong, the devs have already acknowledged that NPCs cheat.

One example of many is a named NPC pursuing you in a viper that can jump 25+ light years, this option is not available to players if it were I think you would find a lot more people using Vipers. The only way a viper can jump 20ly is to D rate everything but the jump drive which would be A rated. Also it wouldn't be able to carry any weapons, FSD scanner or interdictor, so how exactly do NPCs do this without cheating.

Its not the same NPC, they don't jump anywhere - when you leave the system they despawn, when you arrive they respawn thats all there is to it, you might consider that super dumb (I know I do) but it really isn't cheating its just how the instancing client works.

In combat? The AI doesn't cheat, if it did there would be more complaints, some people sit about killing hundreds of AI ships in a sitting. I know from my combat rating i must have killed upwards of 2k AI ships i've never seen one cheat, i've seen quirky hull damage percentages just like player ships when module damage is involved thats it.

To the folks who combat log: You are cheating only yourself.

Why play a combat based game if you are not willing to fight? I don't care if it's a PC or NPC on your tail. If you combat log, you are cheating. Fly with insurance. If you get killed, you get your ship back at the last port you were at. There's no medal or accomplishment for zero character deaths. There's no extra experience. There's no benefit and unfortunately, there's no downside either.

One day, Frontier will start punishing the loggers and if you reflexively yank your network connection at the slightest bit of trouble you will have no one else to blame, but yourself, when you get whacked for it. Learn to play the game with some dignity and take the good with the bad. You might actually learn something in the process.

For those who consider Elite too hard and can't get by without cheating, this may not be the game for you. May I suggest this instead.

will there still be whining?
I know the answer to this one!

I feel this should be said on this post... I like Elite Dangerous. I like it now as is, and im really excited about what it will become in a few weeks, in a few months, and even in a few years.
there are many games that I have played that I don't like and I don't think they were "worth" the money I paid. I have never taken my time away from my day to post on a forum for a game I don't like. OP I think it is time for you to move Elite is not for you.

The answer to this one is surely another question, if a bug is never encountered is it a bug?

Sure it is. It could be affecting something in the background that's pretty much invisible to all. None of us would even know of it til the release notes say it's been fixed, or if we don't read them, when cops start behaving like a swat team and not like mall security guards.

I don't think so, because there will be hundreds of bugs already that just get disregarded by the code when they throw up errors :p If a bug is never experienced, it isn't a bug.

The fact we all get ram raided by every cop scanning is most certainly not an unexperienced bug though, I mean we all get it everytime we get scanned don't we? lol

when ever the Scram happens I always picture Paul Blart desperately trying to get that scan... especially when he follows me for 15 jumps and then I kill him.

I smuggle out of Robigo almost daily and found a method of minimizing the chain interdictions. Over half the time, I beat the interdiction, including serial interdictions. When I can't beat the interdiction, I submit and boost away until I'm 8km from the interdicting pilot. I then wait about 5-10 sec before jumping to supercruise. Most of the time, I don't see a subsequent interdiction. Similarly, if an authority ship drops into my instance when I'm at the station, I boost away until I'm 8km from the cop, then wait 5-10 sec before turning back to the station.

This is bc NPCs tend to jump 'away' wen they lose sight of you for an extended time ( extended being used loosely ).

I should mention that this works because I smuggle in a Cobra Mk III.

Nice choice.

I think you are missing the point of the OP, the game cheats ferociously and that is the only way to make it even slightly fair...

If anything the game is rediculously easy. Its only for those who go all out maxing profit by not fitting shields and/or guns to their Type-7 - but insist in trading valuable stuff.

It's a sad day when we have to resort on game exploits to counter the games stupid annoying flaws!

It would be a sad day if it was any easier then it already is...
